Copying across projects: Extended
"Options" control group
Option Description
"With document revisions" Document revisions are included in the amount to be copied.
"Save automatically" Once executed, a sequence is saved automatically.
"DB based technique" This copying procedure is suitable for copying large amounts of data because the copy process
consumes less of the main memory. The procedure is not suitable for small amounts of data since
the structure of the entire project is always analyzed.
This option excludes all other options pertaining to this control group and only enables the "Ignore"
option in the "References" control group.
"Include placed objects" Objects in a report are kept when the report is copied. When the new report is opened, the "Define
paste mode for COMOS objects" window no longer opens.
"Paste" control group
Option Description
"Below target" The subarea from the source project is copied directly underneath the target object. With this
option, you can only copy objects which may be created under the target object.
"Create hierarchy" The structure is created in the target project just as it is in the source project, and the objects are
created at the same location of the hierarchy as in the source project.
"References" control group
Option Description
"Collect" On the same layer as the copied object, a "@COPYREF" object is created containing all the
references of the object.
"Reproduce" All reference objects are reproduced in the relevant position, as in the original project.
"Ignore" During the copy process, all references that relate to planning data (P-references) are lost. These
include the unit pointers and the location pointers. References to base data (S-references) are
retained. These are the pointers to the base object, references to base lists, etc. In principle this
loss of references always only relates to references pointing outwards.
"Rename" control group
Control group Description
"New name for:" field In this field, enter the new name of an object that you have selected in the table below.
Table Drag&drop objects here which belong to the amount to be copied and are to be renamed.
When the copy process is triggered, a search is made for projection possibilities. Thus, if the name of an object in the extended amount to be copied is changed, then it is
projected onto another object.
For this purpose, any object from the amount to be copied is dragged into the table. If the object in the table is marked, the old name can be overwritten. The object is projected
with the new name.
If a unit has a location pointer, you can thus drag the location into the table and input a new name. However, you must already have the information as to which objects are
referenced and what name the reference targets should have. This information is not displayed in the "Cross-project copy" window.
If a projection is not possible, the object is created with the new name.
"Newly created objects" control group
This lists all objects that have been included in the amount to be copied because of an option selected in this window. The copied objects themselves are not listed.
