“The frog and the crocodile”.

Author: Clara Pérez

4 Characters:

1. The frog: He uses the crocodile to subsist in the lake where they live.
2. Crocodile: It is a very kind-hearted animal that serves the frog with pleasure.
3. Turtle: Very bad tempered, it does not like to be communicated with.
4. Water Snake: Very lively and is the one who teaches the frog a lesson.

ACT I

Setting: A lake inhabited by various animals, surrounded by bushes and large rocks.

Introduction: The animals are resting on the shore of the lake, when the frog begins to call out
to the crocodile who is sleeping peacefully.

Frog: Crocoooo, crocooooooooooooooooo- he shouts very loudly, making the crocodile open
his eyes.

Crocodile: (Very lazily) ahhhhhhhhhh What’s wrong frog?

Frog: (speaking in an authoritative manner) I need you to take me to the other side of the
lake, I have to talk to my cousin and it’s urgent.

Crocodile: (already waking up) Again with your cousin? Frog, have you ever gone alone to
the other side of the lake?

Turtle: (who observes climbing on a rock) As long as you serve as her transportation, she
won’t cross anywhere alone.

Frog: (annoyed) Look what a talkative turtle! Who asked her opinion?

Turtle: (Turning his back slowly) No one. That’s why I don’t like to talk to other animals,
they’re such idiots aren’t they crocodile?

Crocodile: (Offended) Are you calling me an idiot, Mrs. Turtle?

Frog: Well now, now! Forget about the turtle and take me to the other side of the lake.

The frog climbs on top of the crocodile and they start their journey to the other side of the
lake. While the turtle slowly leaves the scene.

ACT II

Setting: The lake.

Introduction: The water snake plays in the lake, when the intrigued frog appears.
Frog: Hello snake, have you seen the crocodile?

Snake: (Without stopping playing) Yes. He left for the other side of the lake very early in the
morning. I think some relatives are coming to visit him and he went to get them.

Frog: (somewhat disturbed) Relatives? I don’t like that at all.

Snake: (mockingly) I guess not. You won’t be able to use him if he’s entertaining attending
to his family.

Suddenly you hear the scream of the very frightened turtle.

Turtle: (Screaming in terror and approaching the snake and the frog) Run away! The lake is
rising and is taking everything in its path. We must get to the other shore and save ourselves.

Frog: (Really scared) And how can I do that if the crocodile is not there to take me?

Turtle: I don’t know, I can’t help you. The weight of my shell is enough for me.

The turtle jumps into the water and starts to go to the other shore. The frightened frog looks
around and stares at the snake with a smile pretending to be tender.

Frog: Snake, you can help me, will you pass me to the other shore?

Snake: (looking at her disapprovingly) Why don’t you cross by yourself?

Frog: (She remains silent for a moment, looking at the ground) It’s just that… I don’t know
how to do it, I’ve never done it, the crocodile always leads me.

Snake: (reproachfully) And you always treat him badly, and since you have him as your ally,
you treat everyone else badly. You have never won the will of the animals of this lake, don’t
you know how to get to the other shore? It’s about time you learned.

The snake dives into the water and flees, and the frog is left alone and frightened, talking
loudly.

Frog: What can I do now? It’s true, I never realized how useful the crocodile was and all the
help it gave me. And I never won over the rest of the animals. All this is very ugly. But the
worst thing is that I never learned to earn things, to deserve those favors. Now I’ll have to see
how I save my life alone.

The frog starts jumping from rock to rock until he leaves the stage.

THE END.
TREASURE MOUNTAIN
CHARACTERS:
NARRATOR
FAIRY
MAN 1
MAN 2
MAN 3

SCRIPT:

NARRATOR: Once upon a time there was a fairy who lived inside a
mountain full of gold, silver, and precious stones.

FAIRY: Oh, I’m so bored in this place! I wish I could go out into the world
and see the sun, the lakes, rivers, and the flowers. But that’s impossible. I
have to stay underground, caring for all these rubies, diamonds, and
emeralds.

NARRATOR: One day she heard a noise coming from outside the mountain.
Some people were making a hole to get inside.

FAIRY: They are coming to steal my treasure! Men are greedy and
ambitious! I will help them get in, and I will even give them some of my
treasure.

NARRATOR: The fairy used her magic to open up a hole, and a few minutes
later three sweaty, dirty, and tired men entered the treasure mountain.

MAN 1: Where are we? I can’t see anything!

MAN 2: Me neither!

MAN 3: Where’s that bright light coming from? I can’t even open my eyes!

NARRATOR: Finally, the three men could open their eyes.

MAN 1, 2, AND 3: This is wonderful!

MAN 1: Come on, everything is ours!

FAIRY: Stop where you are!

MAN 2: Who are you?

FAIRY: I live here. you don’t have to take anything. I give it to you.
MAN 3: Are you sure?

FAIRY: Yes, take everything you want.

MAN 1: Thank you, good fairy!

MAN 2: I’ll fill my pockets with all these precious stones!

MAN 3: You are so kind.

FAIRY: Don’t say anything more, take whatever you want to, and leave.

NARRATOR: The three men took everything they could, and left the
mountain feeling satisfied. One day, one of them came back to the mountain.

FAIRY: What did you come back? Didn’t you have enough? Is it possible
that you don’t have anything I gave you?

MAN 1: Yes, I do. I have everything you gave me. In fact, I hid the treasure
in a safe place, not even my son knows where it is.

FAIRY: You’re so greedy! You didn’t share your treasure with anybody, not
even your son. Get away from here, I will not give you more!

MAN 1: No, listen to me, please.

FAIRY: Get out!

NARRATOR: The man left, and after a few months another man came to the
mountain.

FAIRY: What do you want?

MAN 2: Please, help me! I have lost everything you gave me. I don’t have a
single precious stone.

FAIRY: What did you do with all the treasure I gave you?

MAN 2: I used it to get to know people better. Money makes people betray
each other, even an honest man can turn disrespectful and dishonest!

FAIRY: So, you used the treasure to turn people against each other, and dare
to come and ask for more. I don’t want to see you anymore. get out!

NARRATOR: The man left, and a few months later the third man came to the
mountain.
FAIRY: Now it’s you! I won’t give you anything. Get away from here!

MAN 3: I don’t want anything else from you. I just came to give you back
some of the treasure you gave me. I don’t want to be rich!

FAIRY: You don’t want to be a wealthy man?

MAN 3: No.

FAIRY: why?

MAN 3: Because money doesn’t make me happy. People came to me just

because I was rich. They were not sincere. They were not my true friends.

FAIRY: Oh, surely wealth is not a good thing! Go back to your world. You
are poor once again and you can now live in peace.

NARRATOR: The man left, and she forgot her dream of going to the world.
She forgot about the sun, the lakes, the rivers, and the flowers.

FAIRY: I prefer to stay in my underground world with my treasure. Men

don’t understand that wealth doesn’t bring happiness. Wealth can also bring
misfortune.
