In what ways do you think you can contribute to achieving the SDG’s?

The primary goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to establish a

sustainable future for everyone in which every issue and concern is addressed and no one is left

behind. It comprises 17 goals that target a common problem that a country has, that

countrymen frequently encounter and that must be addressed to establish sustainable living in

the future. This organization has been adopted in several countries, particularly those that are

part of third-world countries, such as the Philippines, to address the long-term difficulties that we

face. As specific vital problems and concerns have circulated in our country for so long, it will

take years to see progress in reaching the SDGs. But, as a student, how can I contribute to

achieving the SDGs?

To make a difference, I should begin in the vicinity and community, such as at school. I

will treat all my students and schoolmates equally, regardless of gender; no preferential

treatment, disrespect, or prejudice will be shown to them. No matter who they are, I should treat

them as human beings and be the one who, in my way, fights against inequality and injustice by

showing them respect and kindness. Aside from that topic, climate change is also as significant;

as we all know, climate change is visible in our country, and even the weather temperature

makes us feel ill, as I frequently have headaches when the temperature is too high. To save

Mother Earth and the environment to contribute to this relevant issue, I will begin at home by

conserving energy, utilizing electricity wisely, and unplugging all electronics when not in use.

Aside from that, if my destination is nearby and I can walk there, I will do so rather than
commute. Furthermore, combining the concepts of reduce, reuse, and recycle to the things that

are still possible and can be repurposed into something valuable. In addition, I support the NGO

whose campaign primarily focuses on people's welfare, such as raising the minimum wage

employee benefits and providing a safe working environment. And more importantly, to achieve

this, I should avoid supporting companies that exploit and take advantage of people in many

ways. Aside from this, keep the organizations that help people who organize an event mainly

focusing on providing food and essentials for those in need. A small amount of money or

donating things that I know will help, such as toiletries, food, etc., will make a tremendous

difference and help people who need it the most. As a student, these are the things I can do to

help achieve the SDGs.

To make a change, be the difference the world needs. To end cruelty, be the person who

will serve as the voice for the people who are afraid to speak up. A sustainable future starts in

our hands, and it can also influence others. By that, why not use this for the change that people

deserve? If not now, when would it be? It doesn’t matter how long or small my contribution is;

the thoughts and dedication to help achieve the SDGs are more than enough to show that I can

make a difference toward a sustainable future. The total word count of my reflection is 527

words.
