Planning a unique and meaningful funeral can create a
ceremony that continues your legacy and leaves a beautiful
memory in the hearts of loved ones. So do I that want to
personalize my funeral in a distinctive way. Compared to the
traditional Chinese funeral, mine won’t be that serious and
solemn, it would be more joyful and heartwarming than the
traditional chinese ones.
1. Theme and Atmosphere
Natural and Warm Setting: I love nature, consider holding the
funeral outdoors, perhaps by the sea or in the backyard
garden, creating a peaceful and serene environment.
Decorate with plants, fresh flowers, and greenery, using
natural light to give a sense of being embraced by nature.
Remembrance Gathering: Rather than a formal service, set up
the event as a warm gathering. Arrange photos, old journals,
and personal keepsakes so that friends and family can
connect over shared memories.
2. Ceremony Format
Music and Video Tribute: Use my favorite music as a backdrop
and play a video tribute, showing cherished moments and
memories to celebrate my life journey.
Lighting Ceremony: Each attendee can light a candle or small
lantern to honor me, symbolizing their remembrance and
blessings. These lights can be arranged on a beautifully
designed stand or shaped like stars, creating a warm, calm
atmosphere.
3. Activities
Story Sharing: Invite loved ones to share stories of the
moments they shared with me or any impact that I had made
on their lives. I believe it is going to be a heartfelt moment
where emotions blend, allowing everyone to honor and
reminisce.
Wish Tree: Prepare a symbolic “Tree of Life,” where friends
and family can write down blessings or future wishes on small
notes to hang on the tree, representing how I had lived on
through their memories.
4. Memorial Choices
Tree Burial or Natural Burial: Choose a tree burial or another
eco-friendly burial option, allowing my ashes to rest beneath a
tree or by the sea. In future seasons, loved ones can visit this
place to remember me and meanwhile I could enjoy the peace
of nature.
5. Online Memory and Social Media
Virtual Memory Wall: Set up an online memory wall, either
private or public, so that friends and family who cannot attend
in person can share their memories, photos, or blessings. This
can be updated over time to preserve the memory and
influence online.
Memorial Video or Book: Friends and family can create a
memorial video, and compile memories and photos into a
memorial book, giving them a lasting memento to remember
me.
This funeral is designed to reflect my spirit, bringing loved
ones a meaningful way to connect with my life and legacy.
The funeral combines nature, warmth, and personal elements
to allow friends and family to remember my life in a beautiful
setting, also leaving my values and unique qualities with them
as a lasting memory.
