There are mainly 4 types of trends
Upward Trend
An upward trend is like a steady climb or
improvement over time. Imagine a graph going up
consistently, showing things are getting better or
growing. This could be seen in grades going higher,
the value of something increasing, or any situation
where there's a continuous improvement. The
opposite would be a downward trend, where things
are going down or getting worse
There are mainly 4 types of trends
Downward Trend
A downward trend is like a consistent decrease or
decline in something over time. Imagine a graph
going down steadily, showing things are getting
lower or decreasing. This could happen with grades
going down, the value of something decreasing, or
any situation where there's a continuous decline.

sharply. It shows a quicker increase or decrease in
something over time. For instance, if grades have a
steeper upward trend, it means they're improving

faster. If there's a steeper downward trend in prices,
it means they're falling more rapidly.

Flatter Trend 15
A flatter trend means that the changes in a variable
over time are happening at a slower rate. Picture a
line on a graph that is less steep, almost horizontal. 10
It suggests a more gradual increase or decrease in
something. For example, a flatter upward trend in
grades would mean a slower improvement, while a 5
flatter downward trend in prices would indicate a
more gradual decrease.

the bias?

Digital technology's integration has transformed
communication and work. A Pew survey notes 64% of
Americans view social media negatively, fostering feelings
of inadequacy. Information overload and constant
notifications contribute to heightened stress. Remote work
blurs boundaries, leading to burnout, while cybersecurity
threats and privacy breaches amplify stress.
As a university research scholar, it is vital to highlight the
nuanced impact of digital technology on stress, considering
both benefits and drawbacks. Striking this balance is
essential for fostering a healthier relationship with these
tools in our modern society.

Statement by Sulevan, a Social Media

I completely disagree with the idea that
digital technology causes stress. Social
media is my sanctuary, connecting me with
people and enhancing my life. Who cares
about some survey saying 64% think it's
negative? I've met amazing people and
learned a lot.
Information overload? It's just life. Remote
work is a blessing, letting me work from
home. Burnout? Not for me; I set my
boundaries. Cybersecurity concerns and
disruptions happen, but they're not reasons
to stress out.
In my experience, digital technology has
enriched my life, and this argument against
it lacks a personal touch, missing the
positives. Maybe it's not the technology
causing stress; maybe it's how people
approach it.

“The interlinked crises of climate change and
biodiversity loss are among the most severe risks
the world has to contend with and cannot be
tackled in isolation. We’ve just lived through the
hottest year on record with lives and livelihoods
devastated by searing heatwaves and catastrophic
floods and storms. Unless we take urgent action
the threat is only set to intensify, pushing us closer
to inflicting irreversible damage on society and
ecosystems,"
