1. Beginning setting is a factory.
Begging scene capturing presumed workers starting their
shift.
2. From the chaotic beginning scenes with the workers, the scene switches to a quiet/calm
scene with presumably the boss of the factory. From the boss it switches back to the
workers showing various scenes around the factory before settling on a comedic scene
at an assembly line.
3. The character played by Charlie Chaplin keeps getting distracted from his job on the
assembly line some way or another and has the catch up multiple times.
4. The relief man comes by and Chaplin's character goes to the bathroom, however instead
of relieving himself he decides to smoke instead only to get caught by the boss, and told
to get back to work.
5. When Chaplin’s character gets back to the semblance line he comedically stalls while
the relief man does his job.
6. The scene cuts back to the boss where an inventor has dramatically entered the scene
to pitch his invention to the boss.
7. The invention is a supposed feeding machine that promises to eliminate the lunch break,
the boss is intrigued and decides to allow them to test it on one of the workers.
8. It’s now the lunch break of the workers and after another quick comedic scene involving
a coworker, Chaplin’s character is chosen to test out the invention.
9. The invention starts out fine, but once the machine gets to the corn, the machine begins
to malfunction, and in the best terms gets assaulted by the corn.
10. The machine continues to glitch resulting in Soup then getting poured all over him, bolts
stuffed into his mouth, cake smashed on his face, and finally his face beaten with a
mouth wiper.
11. Now in the afternoon Chaplin’s character falls behind again on the assembly line, and in
an attempt to catch up, falls into the inner workings of the assembly line getting passed
around by gears before his manager reverses the line and pulls him back out.
12. Chaplin’s character when pulled out begins acting crazy and tries to tighten various
things using his wrench, twisting a couple of his coworkers' noses before chasing the
female assistant of his boss because her buttons look like bolts. The assistant
successfully loses Chaplin outside before he begins chasing another lady down the
street who also has a dress with buttons.
13. The woman in the street runs to the policemen who then chases Chaplin back into the
factory.
14. Chaplin then runs into another coworkers station and begins to mess with all of the
buttons and levers at the station causing fire to kick up a couple times—also causing
malfunctions with the boss’s telemonitor— before he grabs an oil can and runs back to
the assembly line.
15. Chaplin’s character begins to run around spraying everyone with oil while also escaping
anyone who tries to grab him, eventually climbing onto a chain pulley, and when he’s
forced to come down he also sprays the boss with oil.
16. Chaplin’s Character “The Tramp had a mental breakdown after he couldn’t keep up with
the assembly line, and because of this once he’s caught, he’s fired, and is also sent to
the hospital via early ambulance.
17. Now cured The Tramp walks down the street and see that a car has dropped a flag in an
effort to give the flag back Chaplin inadvertently joins a communist strike/march and is
mistaken as the leader and arrested by police.
18. The scene cuts to a woman (The Gamin) stealing bananas from a boat, while throwing
some to children before escaping the boat's owner and bringing the food home to
support her sisters and father.
19. The Tramp isn’t getting along with his cellmate very much, even fighting over bread.
20. One of the prisoners is getting searched for cocaine and hides it in the salt container.
The Tramp ends up using the salt and gets very high while also gaining confidence to
stand up to his cellmate. Chaplin being high gets distracted and locked out of his cell.
21. Some of the prisoners are trying to escape only to be thwarted by a very high Tramp
who dodges the bullets and beats up the escaped prisoners.
22. The Game's father is then killed at a labor protest by police, and her siblings are put in
the police's care however she runs away.
23. The Tramp is now very comfortable in prison and well liked by the guards, he is called up
by the warden in order to intact he pardon and let him go. Coincidently the minister and
his wife are visiting and The Tramp is forced to sit in uncomfortable silence with the wife
of the minister. Once the warden returns, Tramp is released from prison.
24. The tramp with a good letter of rec gets a job in a shipyard and accidentally sends and
sinks an incomplete boat out to sea.
25. Wanting to get taken back to prison the Tramp takes the blame when the Gamlin is
caught stealing bread however witnesses reveal his lie and he’s let go while the Gamlin
is caught.
26. The Tramp in another attempt to go back to jail goes to a buffet, eats and then calls the
police on himself when he can’t pay. The police officer arrests him and as he is calling it
in, the Tramp pretends to buy a cigar from a stand and gives bars of chocolate to two
little boys all without paying the vendor.
27. The Tramp and the Gamlin get in the same police wagon and finally introduce
themselves after being comforted by the Tramp, the Gamlin grabs the Tramp and makes
a run for it out the wagon causing the car to crash.
28. The gamlin and the Tramp run away together and begin to fall for eachother. Imagining a
nuclear married life together.
29. Now with the motivation of starting a life with the Gamlin, the Tramp gets a job as a
night watchman, and during his shift allows the Gamlin to come inside to steal and mess
around, as well as live in the store during the closed hours.
30. The Tramp messes around on roller skates and almost falls off the balcony.
31. The Tramp sends the Gamlin to sleep in the bedroom department of the store
32. Burglars invade the store and chase the Tramp around the store, also revealing
themselves as his old coworkers from the factory, and proceed to get drunk with them.
33. The Tramp gets fired for oversleeping and missing his shift, and finally gets arrested
once more and is released 10 days later. The Gamlin surprises the Tramp by not only
waiting for him but also finding them a home to stay. The house is a falling apart shack
by a river
34. After seeing a notice in the paper the Tramp manages to snag a job at the newly
reopened factory’s as a mechanics assistant. The tramp is not very good at the job and
keeps making mistakes. He ends up getting the mechanic stuck in the machine
35. Because the mechanic is still stuck in the machine the Tramp has to feed him his lunch
in various ways regarding his predicament.
36. After getting his boss out the factory worker announces that they are on strike, and when
he walks out of the factory he accidentally launches a brick at a police officer.
37. While the Tramp is in prison the Gamlin gets a job as a dancer. Thus getting a stable job
and being able to afford new clothes.
38. Now that the Tramp is out of jail the Gamlin is able to get the tramp a job at the cafe that
she dances at as a waiter/singer.
39. While trying to do his job the Tramp tries multiple times to bring a customer a roast duck
but continues to fail, at one point footballers even take the duck and begin tossing it
around. When he has to sing he forgets the words of the original song and begins
singing in Italian, impressing everyone even himself and getting the job.
40. Police looking for Gamlin find her and the cafe. To escape both her and the Tramp have
to run away though disheartened the Gamlin and the Tramp have hope for the future.
