HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED:
AS COMPUTER SCIENCE
PAPER 1: On-screen examination (1 hour 45 minutes)—50% of the AS level grade
• Questions will be a mixture of short answer and written programs from subject content 1 - 4.
• Preliminary material including a skeleton program is provided.
PAPER 2: Written examination (1 hour 30 minutes)—50% of the AS level grade
• Questions will be a mixture of short-answer and extended answer from subject content 5 - 9.
• Calculators are not permitted.
A LEVEL COMPUTER SCIENCE
PAPER 1: Written examination (2 hours 30 minutes)—40% of the A level grade
• Questions will be a mixture of short answer and written programs from subject content 1 - 4.
• Preliminary material including a skeleton program is provided.
PAPER 2: Written examination (2 hours 30 minutes)—40% of the A level grade
• Questions will be a mixture of short-answer and extended answer from subject content 5 - 13.
• Calculators are not permitted.
PAPER 3: Non-exam assessment —20% of the A level grade
• Each student will be expected to follow a systematic approach to problem solving while programming or
investigating a practical problem.
