Water Reducing and Set Retarding
Description A ready to use water reducing, retarding admixture for concrete based on modified
lignosulfonate. Plastocrete R is non toxic , non flammable and free from chloride.
Complies with A.S.T.M C 494-92 Type B & D
Construction
Use Plastocrete R is used for concrete placed in warm and hot weather, mass
concrete, and normal concrete structures. Plastocrete R is recommended for
high quality concrete, where concreting sections have to be placed in complicated
formwork, where concrete must be re-vibrated, where accelerated hardening after
setting is required.
Advantages Plastocrete R provides the following properties:
Retardation of setting time
Accelerated hardening after setting.
Improved workability of the fresh concrete.
Reduced permeability.
Improved durability of the concrete.
Reduction of creep.
Dosage 0.2% - 0.4 % by weight of cement.
It is advisable to carry out trial mixes to establish the exact dosage rate required.
Plastocrete R is compatible with all types of Portland cement including SRC
Dispensing Plastocrete R should be dispensed directly into the mixing water prior to its
addition to the aggregates. When accidental overdosing occurs, Plastocrete R
does not entrain excessive amounts of air, however the set retarding effect
increases. During this period the concrete must be kept moist in order to prevent
premature drying out.

Handling Precautions:
Avoid contact with skin and eyes
Wear protective gloves and eye protection during work
If skin contact occurs, wash skin thoroughly.
If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with warm water and seek medical attention
without delay.
