VII. BACKGROUND AND/RATIONALE

Gender and Development in mandated in our 1987 Philippine Constitution, Article II,
Section 14, that provides the state to recognize the role of women in nation-building and shall
ensure the fundamental equality before the law of women and men. While RA 7192 or
otherwise known as Women in Development and Nation-Building Act, laid the ground work for
institutionalizing gender concerns in national development efforts adopting the GAD approach
in policies and program. The DBM approved the 5% for the capacity development on GAD, and
it is the reason why Cordova Elementary School personnel urge to conduct the GAD activity.

VIII. OBJECTIVES:

1. To increase knowledge how gender shapes the roles of women and men in society
including their role in development, and how it affects between them.
2. To increase awareness on the different strategies for gender fair education
implementation.
3. To encourage the teachers to promote physical and mental well-being for excellent
performance.

Orientation on the Gender Sensitivity

XII. EXPECTED OUTPUT:


After the training the participant are expected to:
1. eight (8) are capacitated on gender issues, concerns and commitment;
2. increased awareness on the different strategies of gender fair education; and
3. promoted physical and mental well-being for excellent performance.

XIII. MONITORING AND EVALUATION:

The conduct of the training will be monitored and evaluated by the School Head
