DGA3016 Assignment
Project Requirements
This project will assess the student’s understanding of this module by taking the
below brief and creating a publicly accessible website.
Students will need to each prepare an individual design for a Degree Exhibition
website and develop it, then, as a group, agree on proceeding with one of the
designs and making it feature complete with the rest of the project requirements.
Finally, one of the groups may be chosen to be part of the Web Development
Team for the Degree Exhibition next semester.
The groups will consist of three students each and these can be chosen by the
students themselves.
Individual Requirements
⦁ Design and develop a home page design layout for the Degree Exhibition
⦁ Since one of the designs may be chosen, please make sure that the
chosen design will support adding more pages from the Group
Requirements later on.
Group Requirements
⦁ Build a Degree Exhibition Portfolio website that contains the following
aspects (may be pages or components):
⦁ Home
⦁ Exhibition Showcase
⦁ Individual Exhibition
⦁ Sponsors
⦁ Contact
⦁ In addition to the above pages, please include the following components
within the website:
⦁ Navigation Menu
⦁ Image Carousel
⦁ Contact Form
⦁ Social Media Icons
⦁ The website must be responsive and works well on most popular desktop,
tablet and mobile devices.
⦁ Must have valid HTML and CSS.
⦁ Source code must be committed on a new GitHub repository before the
1
announced assignment date deadline. No further commits must be done
after the specified deadline.
⦁ Please make sure to commit both the Individual Pages (clearly
marked with the individual student’s names as the filename, ex.
[Link]) and the final output for the Group outcome
⦁ This may be done within the same repository
⦁ The site must be accessible via a published URL (such as GitHub
Pages, Digital Ocean or other hosting providers).
⦁ Frontend component libraries such as Bootstrap or Material Design Lite
may be used.
⦁ The use of ready-made website themes is not permitted, although the
student may use available components if they are credited and mentioned
as comments within the code and mentioned within the presentation.
⦁ (Bonus) The website is hosted on a custom domain.
Presentation
Student groups should present their work in a short presentation. This session will
provide the group an opportunity to explain and justify the choices made during the
design phase of the website, choice of layout, component, colours, and any other
decisions made while working on this project. It is expected that the student’s prior
theoretical knowledge about design, user experience and usability is applied within
this practical assignment.
Each presentation should not take longer than 12 minutes.
Submission Details
⦁ Deadline to submit the project is Friday 10th January at 23:55. Late
submissions will be penalised.
⦁ The submission template must be completed and submitted in .pdf format
and it must include:
⦁ List all Student Names within the Group
⦁ A link to the GitHub Repository where the source code is located.
⦁ A link to the GitHub Pages location where the website can be visible.
⦁ Presentations will take place on Monday 13th January for all groups.
