 One of the main improvement of the C series has been made in the
reinforcement of the most stressed areas of the boom and the arm to
increase productivity, the cycle times and durability of components.
 The base and the final part of boom and arm are in cast steel.
 The bucket linkage support has a fortified structure.

5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
HYDRAULIC & ELECTRONIC

 Improved cycle times and fuel economy in any working modes (vs B
series).

 More fuel saving, higher performance and easy controllability, thanks to the
introduction of many electronic controls, the so called Energy Saving
Functions of the CASE Intelligence Hydraulic System (CIHS).

 ECO gauge / fuel consumption meter: to support efficient operation

visually on the monitor.
17

HYDRAULIC & ELECTRONIC

 Improved cycle times and fuel economy in all working modes

(compared to B series).

 21 ton comparison: % fuel consumption (lt/h) and cycle time (s)

improved vs B series.

18
5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
1. BEC (Boom Economy Control)

 It increases the fuel efficiency during the lowering of the boom and swing
operations.

 For example: after dumping the bucket into the truck, hydraulic system does
not require flow. So BEC automatic function lowers the engine speed of 100
rpm in that conditions without loosing performance but optimizing the fuel
consumption.

 Engine speed return: Two Pressure Sensor (P2, N2)

20
5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
2. AEC (Automatic Economy Control)

 It improves the fuel efficiency reducing the engine speed of 50 rpm when the
joysticks are in neutral position and the operator is not asking power from the
machine.
 AEC is a function automatically active (no selection from operator) by default
and is intended to tackle waiting time for dumping onto the next truck.

22
5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
3. SRC (Swing Relief Control) Improved from B, more responsive.

 The pump sends a small amount of oil at the very beginning

of slewing operation, what is the real need; then it gradually
increases the flow as the rotation speed increases.

23
5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
4. SSC (Spool Stroke Control)

 It creates an automatic pressure adjustment during digging and leveling

operations. It saves fuel while improving the controllability for the operator.

 Pressure Sensors can recognize the type of operation, then Machine Computer
can control the pilot control pressure for Arm 2, Boom 2, and Bucket Spool (by
Reducing Valves) for optimum work mode operation in each of them.

24
5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
4. SSC (Spool Stroke Control)

 Pressure Sensors can recognize the type of operation, then Machine Computer
can control the pilot control pressure for Arm 2, Boom 2, and Bucket Spool (by
Reducing Valves) for optimum work mode operation in each of them.

 CX130C: only boom sensor Boom 2(no Arm 2 / Bucket Spool).

25
5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
5. AES functions: AUTO IDLE and IDLE SHUT DOWN (as B series)

 AUTO IDLE: automatically* lowers engine revs to 1200 rpm, whatever the working mode
position, when the levers have been inactive for 5 seconds.
 It has to be activated by the operator, either manually by the button on the right-hand
control lever, or by setting the auto idle function on the instrument cluster.
 The Minimum speed that can be set corresponds to low idle speed of each engine:
130 180 210 - 250 300, 350, 470
1050rpm 1000rpm 900rpm
 The reason for setting a default stand-by speed slightly higher than the low idle speed is to
increase responsiveness as the machine operation is resumed.

26
5 NEW ENERGY SAVING FUNCTIONS
5. AES functions: AUTO IDLE and IDLE SHUT DOWN (as B series)

 IDLE SHUT DOWN switches off the

engine when there has been no activity
for 3 minutes.

 It’s active if the following conditions are

satisfied:
 safety lever up (joysticks and pedals
disabled);
 engine speed is under 1200 rpm;
 no touch of auto-idle switch, engine
throttle and one touch idle for 3 minutes.

 Then automatically a warning message

will appear and after 10 seconds the
engine will be shut down. To turn engine
back on: turn key to OFF, then restart the
engine.

 Time can be set by Service screen:

- Auto idle time: from 1 to 30 sec
- Auto shutdown time: from 3 to 10 min.

 A (AUTO):
 for Digging and Lifting Operations.
 Operator can select amongst 13 different engine speeds, from 1000
to 1600 rpm.
 PowerBoost is always active, it means you can get maximum
pressure (and so maximum lifting capacity) and you can lower the
engine speed (increasing the precision in the movements).

37
ENGINE & MAINTENANCE: WORKING MODES
3 WORKING MODES (as B series): HEAVY

 H (HEAVY):
 for normal working conditions
 engine speed is set to 1700 rpm
 Powerboost is automatically engaged by the controller (8
seconds).
 maximizing economy and fuel efficiency but with good
performance as well

38
ENGINE & MAINTENANCE: WORKING MODES
3 WORKING MODES (as B series): SPEED PRIORITY

 SP (Speed Priority):
 suitable for hard applications
 SP mode is set to provide both maximum horsepower (1800 rpm) and
pump flow.
 This setting provides 8 seconds of automatic hydraulic Powerboost.
