Roadmap for DS/DA Placements IIT

BHU
Basics:

1/ Essentials of Linear Algebra - Series of short videos to build a strong

intuition about linear algebra, vector, matrix multiplication & eigenvector -
this will help in building a good mathematic base to understand few ML
models & data transformations. (Watch time 2hrs) Essentials of Linear
Algebra

2/ It always helps to be clear on the basics like hypothesis testing,

regression, errors, data handling, etc. Google it up and look through each
of the concepts.

ML & other important topics:

1/ Analytics Vidya has a host of good quality analytics courses (short &
free)

2/ Machine Learning (By Andrew Ng)

Platform: Coursera (Offered by Stanford University)

XG Boosting)

3/ Introduction to Data Analytics (this covers a lot of ground and gives a

general idea of different classes of algorithms)

Platform NPTEL (Offered by IIT Madras)

4/ Getting and Cleaning Data

Platform: Coursera (Offered by Johns Hopkins University)

5/ Data Structures and Algorithms (For DS profiles only)

Link: https://neetcode.io/practice (It contains all the important and

famous questions topic and type wise from Leetcode which makes it
easy to practise and keep a tab everyday)
6/ Neural Networks (For DS profiles only, but can be learnt to boost DA
resume by including a project based on neural networks)

(covers basic concepts and its free)

7/ NLP (for DS profiles only, but can be a boost for DA resume if you can
include 1 project or intern on this domain):

For NLP, I tried to learn it through my summer internship which was

the fastest and efficient way for me. You can try to learn it through
real world projects such as sentiment analysis (easy), text
summarizer (medium).

For basics like knowing what the steps are involved in data
collection, preprocessing, etc you can refer to this page and then
individually search up the topics for details:

8/ SQL:

Link: https://leetcode.com/studyplan/top-sql-50/

Practise daily 2-4 questions of SQL daily mainly on subqueries, joins,

etc.

Interview Prep:

Be thorough with your Resume. Know each word you have written
on the resume and how it works. Remember you can’t fool the
interviewer.

Aptitude Tests:

Practise CAT PYQs and test materials of CAT from various coaching
institutions such as TIME, Career Launcher, iQuanta, etc.

For free questions,

In most of the companies, It is mostly aptitude questions along with

2 DSA questions (DS), or 2 SQL questions (DS/DA), or even
guesstimates (DA/Consultant)
GD (For DA/ Manager mostly):

Some companies opt for group discussions which could either be

domain specific or problem specific. Domain specific GDs test
understanding of the industry the company functions in, hence your
ability to understand the business. A problem-based GD tests your
ability to come up with data driven solutions to the problem.

Guesstimates (For DA/Consultant mostly):

answers/

Keep searching for Guesstimate questions and keep practising

it every day. The whole idea is to build the how-to approach mindset
rather than arriving at the answer.

Case Studies (For DA/Consultant mostly):

Practise the IIT BHU, IIT Madras Official CaseBook. Focus more on
cases on profitability, market entry as they mostly ask more from it.
Remember, Case studies is a two-way conversation with the
interviewer and you can’t arrive at the answer without the
interviewer help.

HR round questions:

Link: https://www.interviewbit.com/hr-interview-questions/

You can look through it to get an idea of how to answer some of the
most common HR questions. Try to build a connection between your
personality and company values through your answers. Always look up
the company profile and the recent campaigns, changes that it has
applied. You can ask about these information in the HR round and they
would be more than happy to answer and impressed to see your interest.
