 WOTLK Investments

My phase 1 investments
The plan is to buy these materials the first week because everyone is leveling and
there will be a ton of these being farmed. People will realize they need all of these
materials at level 80 when they try to craft their pre-bis items, get their sons of
hodir shoulder enchants, craft the darkmoon trinket, gem their gear, or level
their professions to 440+. Overall all eternals will be cheap the first week, and all
of them are needed for different level 80 epic crafts, so I’ll for sure invest in them,
but mainly eternal life as you need a lot of these to craft the wotlk darkmoon
cards, with the new profession inscription.

 Profession Gold Making

Engineering

The Zapthrottle Mote Extractor is still used in the Wrath of the Lich King, at the
new clouds in Northrend to get eternals and you can still use this item in TBC to
farm primals. Below I’ve left a link to my old TBC cloud farming and screenshots

Skinning
Skinners will make a lot of gold in all the different phases, as the materials will be
needed to craft different blue, epic, and enchants as a leatherworker.

Arctic Fur is used to craft level 80 epic items, leg enchants and
leatherworking-specific enchants. Make sure to keep these at the start of wotlk,
as they will get a lot more expensive when fewer people level.
Below is the farming location I use in the different zones.

Mining
Mining is a great way to make a ton of gold. The benefit of this farm is that many
professions need the bars. E.g. Engineering, Jewelcrafting, and Blacksmithing.
Remember miners can also do the titansteel bar transmute for some extra gold.

Herbalism
Herbalism is a good gold-making profession in phase 1. I usually pick this
because of the chance of getting crystallized life which is in high demand in p1
and p2, due to the darkmoon trinkets.

Jewelcrafting
Jewelcrafters can do a daily quest in Dalaran and get a Dalaran Jewelcrafter's
Token. This token can be exchanged into a Dragon's Eye which is a material
needed to craft the JC-specific epic gems. So an easy way to make gold is to
exchange your token for this material and sell it in the auction house and
remember you can do this every day.

Also, make sure to check all the gems in the AH, sometimes you can buy them
and flip them as a new gem, especially the scarlet ruby can make big profits.

Blacksmithing
The eternal belt buckle is an item crafted by blacksmiths. Most guides
recommend people craft these to level their professions. This is for sure a good
decision as this item will be needed throughout all of this expansion.

So make sure to keep these if you craft them in early phase 1, as everyone will be
crafting this item, which makes the price go down by a lot in the beginning. I
expect the price to go up later in phase 1, mainly because the price for the
different eternals increases, as all professions need these.

Crafting ) the savage saronite PvP set and titanium weapon chain + titanium
shield spike is also a good way of making gold

Enchanting
Selling enchanting scrolls is a very decent gold-making method in wotlk. What I’m
going to do is to store some for phase 2, and sell them when people get new epic
items and weapons.

The following enchants below the text are some I usually craft on scrolls and
resell.

Many classes can also solo TBC instances, which is a great way of making gold. A
dungeon I like to solo in hellfire ramparts as you get a lot of items you can
disenchant.

Tip: check ah for cheap wotlk green and blue items in phase 1. Many professions
will be making such items from level 375-415, which could make you a big profit if
you buy these items, disenchant them and resell the mats.

Inscription

A good way to make gold is obviously to craft glyphs. There are a ton of different
ones to craft, but most of them require the same materials, so make sure to
always scan the auction house for the most expensive one.

Another great way to make a ton of gold early on in phase 1, is to craft the
darkmoon decks.

You have a chance to get many different cards when you craft this one, but the
card you mainly aim for is the noble cards. Completing this deck will provide the
greatness trinket which will probably sell for around 10-20,000 gold each if not
more on the non-fresh servers.

Leatherworking
Craft the eviscerate PvP set when you level this profession.

The 32-slot mining bag [Mammoth Mining Bag] has been a thing I’ve made a
decent profit on.

I Usually crafted 2 epic items from 440-450

Both of these items are needed by so many different classes and I’ve even seen
warriors, death knights and paladins buying the Trollwoven Spaulders because
of the expertise they provide.

You can craft Heavy borean leather with 6x borean leather. Thise might not seem
like a good gold-making method, but it has been quite good for me. Many people
ask leatherworkers for the mats and buy them at the auction house without
checking the price for borean leather.

If you don’t manage to sell the heavy borean leather, then convert it into [Heavy
borean armor kit] as these sell in all of the expansion.

The last thing I usually make a profit with is the different leg enchants. Remember
you can level your profession by crafting these.

Tip: I plan to buy a lot of [Arctic fur] at the launch of wotlk. They will be so cheap
and I expect the price to increase as more people realize how important they will
be at level 80.

Alchemy
The most important thing is to make sure you pick an alchemy specialization to
get some benefits when you transmute, craft flasks, elixirs or potions.

The way I mainly make gold is by crafting and selling 3 different flasks as an elixir
specialist.

Another thing you can do is to transmute and make gems that can be turned into
meta gems. You can also transmute a titanium bar as it will be needed by many
players in phase 1.

As a potion master, I prefer to craft 2 potions to make gold.

Tailoring

Tailoring isn’t that great of a gold-making profession, at least from my

experience, but you can of course craft some things and make a profit.
Craft the frostsavage PvP items as you level up this profession. People will need
these items in season 1 when they start to PvP. Another useful craft the the
different leg enchants as these will be needed throughout all of the expansion

Craft your cloth cooldowns whenever they are ready. You should also do this with
any of your tailoring alts (remember to choose a specialization to craft 2 cloths
instead of 1)

Craft frostweave bags when you level your profession and post them on the
auction house. That way you get to level your profession pretty much for free or
even make a profit.

The tailoring leg enchants will be useful for all of the expansion.
You can do heroics and try to get frozen orbs and use them to craft the
spellthread enchants.

 Gold farms

Eternal Farming
Eternals is used to craft different high-level epic items, enchantments and even
level different professions from 420-450.

It’s such a useful way to level your character and grind a lot of gold at the same
time. You can start farming gold this way at level 68, so when you get to Borean
Thundra or Howling Fjord.

Remember you can always farm eternals as an engineer by cloud
extracting. You can find more info about this in the profession gold-making
part.

Relic of Ulduar

This relic is used to gain reputation with the Sons of Hodir in stormpeaks.
You turn 10 of these in to get a bit of reputation, so you’ll need many to
unlock the new shoulder enchants in wotlk, which is sold by this faction.

You can easily level up from 77-80 and farm these at the same time.
You can farm them in Storm Peaks or inside the two dungeons in the zone
[Halls of Stone] and [Halls of Lightning] which are located close to Ulduar.

My favorite gold farming spot for all classes without professions

The reason why I like this spot is that there are so many stacked monsters, which
allow many classes to cleave or aoe these.
They drop a lot of cloth, raw silver and quite often some green or blue items.

This spot makes you at least 300 raw gold without the use of the auction house.

 Pre-patch gold making

TBC open world raw gold farming as a level 70 protection paladin, warrior, mage,

All non tank classes should do the isle of quel'danas and outland dailies for 200
gold every day.

 WOTLK Paladin dungeon gold farm
Paladins is in my opinion the best gold farmer in Wrath of the Lich King. The
reason for this is that they have the option to solo farm dungeons as protection
and get a lot of gold.
Later on, probably in phase 3 they also become good at soloing Northrend
dungeons as retribution.
