ABSTRACT
This study investigates the perceptions of Grade 11 ICT students at
Anselmo A. Sandoval Memorial National High School regarding the TechTerm
Interactive Program. Using a descriptive research design, data were collected from
20 students through a survey questionnaire. The survey assessed the program's
perceived utility, benefits, drawbacks, and essential features.
Results show a positive perception of the TechTerm Interactive Program.
Students find it valuable for searching ICT terminologies, quickly accessing
specific terms, and enhancing understanding of complex terms. Despite some
limitations in providing comprehensive information, the overall sentiment is
favorable. Educational backgrounds influenced perceptions slightly but did not
significantly alter the positive view.
The findings highlight the program's potential to support ICT education
effectively. Recommendations for improvement include enhancing the user
interface, expanding the database, and incorporating interactive features to
promote active learning. These insights will help refine the TechTerm Interactive
Program to better serve Grade 11 ICT students.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
This chapter presents the introduction of the study. It includes the
background of the study, statement of the problem, objective of the study,
significance of the study, scope and limitation of the study.
Background of the Study
The ever-evolving landscape of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) presents a unique challenge for educators and students alike.
The field is characterized by a rapidly expanding lexicon, encompassing a
multitude of technical terms, acronyms, and multifaceted concepts. This
burgeoning vocabulary creates a significant obstacle for students seeking to
master the intricacies of ICT. Traditional pedagogical approaches, often reliant on
rote memorization of definitions, frequently prove inadequate. This results in a
cascade of negative consequences, including confusion, inefficacy in applying
knowledge, and ultimately, diminished student engagement. Students become
discouraged and disengaged from a field that holds immense potential for their
future success.
In response to these identified challenges, this study proposes the
development of TechTerm, a revolutionary interactive program designed to
transform the way students learn ICT terminology. Unlike conventional ICT
terminology search applications that merely provide basic definitions, TechTerm
offers a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that caters to diverse
learning styles.

TechTerm incorporates a multifaceted approach specifically designed to not
only enhance students' understanding of ICT terminology but also foster a more
enriching and interactive learning experience. Firstly, the program utilizes visually
rich multimedia elements, including animations, simulations, and interactive
diagrams of various hardware components employed within the ICT domain. This
allows students to intuitively explore and grasp the functionalities and
configurations of these components in a way that static images cannot achieve.
Additionally, TechTerm addresses the challenge of deciphering ICT-specific
acronyms by providing detailed explanations alongside real-world examples of
their usage. This empowers students to effortlessly navigate industry jargon and
acronyms, fostering a deeper understanding of the underlying concepts.
Furthermore, TechTerm prioritizes user experience by offering a high
degree of customization. Users can personalize their learning journey by adjusting
preferences such as font size, color schemes, interface layouts, and even the
learning pace. These features, employed in a cohesive manner, aim to cultivate
user engagement, facilitate a deeper comprehension of fundamental concepts,
and ultimately establish a personalized and comfortable learning environment for
all users.
In conclusion, the limitations of rote memorization in ICT education
necessitate a more innovative approach. This study proposes TechTerm, an
interactive program designed to revolutionize ICT terminology learning. By offering
a comprehensive and engaging experience that caters to diverse learning styles,
TechTerm seeks to bridge the gap between basic definitions and true
comprehension. Through the use of visually-rich multimedia elements, detailed
explanations, and customizable features, TechTerm has the potential to empower
students to flourish in the ever-evolving field of ICT.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION
Scope
This study specifically targets Grade 11 ICT students at Anselmo A.
Sandoval Memorial National High School (AASMNHS). The research aims to
explore these students' perceptions regarding the potential utility, benefits, and
drawbacks of the TechTerm Interactive Program. The study will assess how the
application could assist them in searching and understanding ICT terminologies,
its impact on their learning experience, and its contribution to the development of
essential ICT skills and competencies.
Limitation
The study's focus is limited to Grade 11 ICT students at Anselmo A.
Sandoval Memorial National High School (AASMNHS), and the findings may not
be applicable to students in other grades or educational institutions. The research
relies on self-reported perceptions and experiences of the participants, which may
be influenced by personal biases or inaccuracies. Additionally, as the TechTerm
Interactive Program is not yet fully developed, the study will be based on students'
perceptions and expectations of the proposed application rather than actual usage.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter presents the related literature of the studies that helped shape
this study. It includes conceptual framework, synthesis, conclusions of the related
literatures and definition of terms.
Related Literature
Terminology programs have emerged as powerful tools in the field of
education, particularly for ICT students. These programs offer a multitude of
features and benefits that greatly enhance the learning experience and facilitate
the acquisition of ICT terminologies. With the increasing popularity of smartphone
and tablet-based programs, terminology programs have become indispensable
resources that surpass traditional methods and bring a wide range of advantages
(Al-Jarf, 2022).
One major advantage of terminology programs is their extensive vocabulary
repository. These programs provide access to vast databases, allowing learners
to explore various aspects of a language, including obscure terms and colloquial
expressions (Al-Jarf, 2022). This comprehensive vocabulary coverage ensures
that ICT students are exposed to a wide range of technical terms and concepts,
enabling them to expand their knowledge and improve their technical language
skills.
Moreover, terminology programs offer interactive features that make the
learning experience engaging and immersive. These features include voice
pronunciation, gamified vocabulary quizzes, and multimedia references, which
encourage active participation and foster a deeper understanding of the language
(Wang & Zhen, 2016). The incorporation of audio pronunciations allows

information accessibility, enabling learners to instantly find definitions and
contextual examples. This quick and efficient access to information saves time and
allows students to focus on their learning without the need to spend excessive time
searching for definitions in traditional dictionaries or textbooks (Al-Jarf, 2022).
In addition to their enriched content and functionality, terminology programs
offer practical advantages. Their digital format eliminates the need to carry heavy
books, making them highly portable and accessible anytime, anywhere. This aligns
perfectly with the modern learning trends that prioritize mobility and flexibility
(Pedagoo, n.d.). ICT students can easily access their terminology program on their
smartphones or tablets, allowing them to study on the go and make the most of

Furthermore, the program supports scholars and researchers in their work
by providing synonyms and antonyms, enhancing the quality of research papers
and dissertations (Ridley, 2016). The availability of synonyms and antonyms within
the program allows students to expand their language skills and improve their
written communication in ICT-related fields.
The use of terminology programs also contributes to the improvement of
reading and vocabulary skills among students. Electronic resources, including
terminology apps, have been found to be more effective than printed resources in
enhancing reading and vocabulary skills (Alharbi, 2016; Rezaei & Davoudi, 2016).
By using the terminology program, students can improve their reading
comprehension and expand their ICT-related vocabulary. This, in turn, contributes
to the development of essential ICT skills and competencies among students.
Interactive ICT terminology programs revolutionize the learning experience
by providing students with a dynamic approach to mastering
complex ICT terminology (Aslan, 2016). These programs go beyond rote
memorization, immersing learners in dynamic experiences that include real-world
examples, captivating visuals, and interactive exercises. By shifting away from
static definitions, these tools not only deepen comprehension but also nurture
critical thinking skills, empowering learners to navigate the intricate tech landscape
with confidence.
Catering specifically to learners' needs, these apps feature curated
glossaries, categorized terminology lists, and direct links to relevant online
resources, ensuring easy access to the latest information and practical
applications. Through adaptive learning technology, content and activities are
personalized to accommodate individual learning styles, allowing students to

search functions that enhance learning accessibility and efficiency. These digital
tools not only facilitate vocabulary acquisition but also foster the development of
essential ICT skills, promote independent learning, and enhance reading
