THE BORNEAN CLOUDED LEOPARD:

A UNIQUE CAT FROM BORNEO
The Bornean clouded leopard is a special kind of cat,like a cousin to the Sumatran clouded
leopard.These leopards live on the island of Borneo and have their own unique spots and features that
make them different from their Sumatran relatives.
Some of these leopards were spotted in places like Sabangau National Park in
Kalimantan,northern Sarawak’s mixed dipterocarp forest ,and Sabah’s Danum Valley Conservation area.
They like to hang out in various forest reserves and wildlife sanctuaries.A long time ago ,about 40 to 120
thousand years ago ,the Bornean clouded leopard and the Sumatran clouded leopard used to be
connected,like friends on the same land.But then,the sea levels went up,and they got separated.That’s
when the Bornean clouded leopard became its own special kind of leopard.
In 2007,after studying their genes, scientis decided that the Bornean clouded leopard is different
enough from the Sumatran one to be its own type,called a subspecies. So ,now we know they are like
distant relatives with their own unique style.

Meet the Asian Elephant : Big and Sociable !

The Asian elephant is the biggest land animal in Asia. These elephants live in different places like
forests and grasslands in 13 countries in Southeast Asia. Even though they have favorite plants to
eat,Asian elephants have learned to find food in different areas.
Asian elephants are super friendly and like to be in groups. They usually hang out with six or
seven related female elephants,and the oldest one,called the matriarch,is the leader. Sometimes,these
groups join others to make bigger herds,but it doesn’t last very long. In Asia , the herds of elephants are
not as big as the ones in Africa.
Elephants spend a lot of their day eating -more than two -thirds of it ! They munch on grass,tree
bark ,roots,leaves,and small stems. They also love to eat crops like bananas,rice,and sugarcane.
Elephants are always close to water because they need to drink at least once a day.

Fun Family Time at Home : Gardening ,Brownies ,and Movie Night

On the weekend ,my family and I chose to stay at home for our day off.Some people might not
have thought it was a good idea ,but we had a different plan to have fun together.
In the morning ,we took care of our small garden after eating yummy fried rice for breakfast. We
planted pretty flowers ,cleared away the grass,and gave water to the plants.
In the afternoon ,my mom guided us in making delicious homemade chocolate brownies,and it
turned out really well. My little sister was the first to taste them, and she loved them so much that she
kept asking for more.
In the evening ,we all gathered in the living room to watch a movie as a family. We brought the
brownies we made earlier to enjoy while watching.
I never thought staying at home with my family on weekends could be this interesting and fun.
Next time ,we will consider doing it again to have a great time together.

Thanks to the God that has granted us mercy and confort,so that we can come together in this
place in order to OSIS reformation.

Thanks for all of your supports that entrusted me to hold the position of OSIS leader.
Therefore,if the activity of this organization in the future is agreed with the purpose that
already be proposed,please join and follow us. Meanwhile if it is not agreed with the
purpose ,please tell us soon in order to keep our organization to be better. Since ,the
continuing of an organization depends on the member of the certain organization itself.

I hope that all of you can give us any advices and critiques that can increase our spirit and
support our activity to be better.

STORY

A Mouse and A Lion

Once ,as a lion lay sleeping in his den, a naughty little mouse ran up his tail,onto his
back, up his mane and danced and jumped on his head ,so that the lion woke up.

Lion angry grabbed the mouse and,and holding him in his large claws,roared in
anger.”How dare you wake me up ! Don’t you know that I am King of the Beasts? Anyone who
disturbs my rest deserves to die! I shall kill you and eat you!”

The terrified mouse , shaking and trembling,begged the lion to let him go.”Please don’t
eat me Your Majesty! I did not mean to wake you,it was a mistake. I was only playing. Please
let me go -and I promise I will be your friend forever. Who knows but one day I could save your
life?

The lion looked at the tiny mouse and laughed. “You save my life ? What an absurb
idea!”he said scornfully. “But you have made me laugh,and put me into a good mood again,so
I shall let you go.”And the lion opened his claws and let the mouse go free.

“Oh thank you ,your majesty,” squaked the mouse,and scurried away as fast as he
could.

A few days later the lion was caught in a hunter’s snare. Struggle as he might,he couldn’t
break free and became even more entangled in the net of ropes. He let out a roar of anger
that shook the forest. Every animal heard it, including the tiny mouse.

The mouse was rushing to the source of its roar and he found the lion was powerless.
The mouse then bit the rope that cought the lion so that the lion can escape from the trap. The
lion is very grateful to the mouse and they became friends best forever.

STORY
GOLDEN CUCUMBER
Long time ago in the island of Java,Indonesia,live a couple of farmer.They had married
for some years but they had no children.So they prayed to a monster called Buto Ijo to give
them children.Buto Ijo was a ferocious and powerful monster.He granted their wish on one
condition.When their children had grown up,they had to sacrifice them to Buto ijo.He liked
eating fresh meat of human being. The farmers agreed to his condition. Several months later
the wife was pregnant.
She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. The named her Timun Emas. The farmers were
happy. Timun Emas was vey healthy and a very smart girl. She was also very diligent. When she
was a teenager Buto Ijo came to their house. Timun Emas was frightened so she ran away to
hide. The farmers then told Buto Ijo that Timun Emas was still a child. They asked him to
postpone. Buto Ijo agreed. He promised to come again. The following year Buto Ijo came
again. But again and again their parents said that Timun Emas was still a child.
When the third time Buto Ijo came their parents had prepared something for him. They
gave Timun Emas several bamboo needles,seeds of cucumber, dressing and salt.
“Timun Emas, take these things”. What are these things ?” These are weapons. Buto Ijo will
chase you. He will eat you alive. So run as fast as you can. And if he will catch you spread this
to the gound. Now go!
Timun Emas was scared so she ran as quickly as she could. When Buto Ijo arrived she
was far from home. He was very angry when he realized that his prey had left. So he ran to
chase her . He had a sharp nose so he knew what direction his prey ran.
Timun Emas was just a girl while Buto Ijo was a monster so he could easily catch her up.
When he was jus several steps behind Timun Emas quickly spread the seeds of cucumber. In
the seconds they turn into many vines of cucumber. The exhausted Buto Ijo was very thirsty so
he grabbed and eat them. When Buto Ijo was busy eating cucumber Timun Emas could run
away.
But soon Buto Ijo realized and started running again. When he was jus several steps
behind Timun Emas threw her bamboo needles. Soon they turned into dense bamboo trees.
Buto Ijo found it hard to pass. It took him some time to break the dense bamboo forest.
Meanwhile Timun Emas could run farther. Buto ijo chase her again. When he almost catch her
again and again Timun Emas threw her dressing. This time it turned into a lake. Buto Ijo was
very busy to save himself so Timun Emas ran way. But Buto Ijo could overcome it and
continued chasing her.
Finally when Timun Emas was almost caught she threw her salt. Soon the land where
Buto Ijo stood turned into ocean. Buto Ijo was drowned and died instantly. Timun Emas was
thankful to God and come back to her home.
