Each person involved in the worship ministry needs to be firmly committed to a

We only want to build this ministry with people who are enthusiastic and
empowered by God to serve in the area of music and worship.
Stable temperament
We do not allow fits of anger or “creative musician” antics. We are together to serve
God, not to pander to emotional insecurities.
Servants, willing to work hard and be consistent in their commitments
We require a lot of personal practice and group rehearsal time, so it is important to
not be over-committed in other ministries in the church or areas of life.
Musical talent
While we recognize that not everyone has the same level of musical ability, we
expect everyone to be willing to work hard and push the limit of their musical
talents.
Commitment to excellence
We expect everyone to have the attitude of seeking excellence in everything that we
do, and to wholeheartedly pursue excellence in worship.
job description
Position: Main Services Worship Team
(Sundays, Wednesdays, Iglesia Victoria)
Responsible to: —Travis Ross (worship pastor)
—worship leader of your assigned service(s)
Support provided by:
—Pastoral care and direction
—Ongoing musical training
—Relationship-oriented team
Responsibilities:
— Pray for the worship team and ministry leaders.
— Provide a positive and supportive atmosphere in which each member of the worship
team is able to
discover and develop their gifts.
—Adequately prepare for rehearsals and services. This includes learning songs, personal
practice time,
setting up your equipment, etc.
—Attend all required rehearsals and services. Rehearsals and sound checks will generally
include times of
worship, music rehearsal, devotions, prayer, etc. You will be informed as to the call time
for the services
and rehearsals you are assigned to.
—Be on time. It is extremely important to be punctual for the rehearsals and sound
checks. We especially
do not want to be rushing around before services. Instead, we want to have time to
prepare our hearts
and minds for what the Holy Spirit wants to do in the service. We view punctuality as a
respect issue for
everyone involved in the worship ministry.
—Maintain unity by representing the philosophy of ministry and the Statement of Faith of
Victory
Church.
—Live a respectable Christian lifestyle strengthened by Bible reading and prayer.
Length of Commitment: One year renewable by mutual agreement.
Dress Code: Casual for all services others unless notified otherwise (no
shorts, T-shirts, flip flops, etc..)
Time Required: Approximately 6-8 hours per week, including personal practice,
rehearsals and services.
audition process
The audition process consists of four parts: 1. Application
2. Musical audition
3. Personal interview
4. Invitation
The reason for this four-part process is the fact that worship music ministry is concerned
with two major issues: heart and skill. As leaders in worship, we must be worshipers first,
but in addition, we must determine each person’s ability and style so that we can place
them accordingly.

Musical Audition
Instrumentalists:
During the musical audition you will be expected to play two songs of your choice, (one fast
and one slow) from the song list provided. This will help us evaluate your musical skill
level. You will be evaluated on rhythm, style, following chord charts, playing by ear, playing
in different keys, and playing with a band.
Vocalists:
During the musical audition you will be expected to sing one worship song of your choice
from the list provided as well as singing “Amazing Grace.” This will help us evaluate your
musical skill level. We will be listening for pitch, vocal range, blend, harmony (if applicable),
and musicality.
Personal Interviews
You may be asked to meet with one of the worship ministry leaders for a personal
interview. Personal interviews are important because we want to find out who you are and
get to know you. In this way we can help direct you to the area of ministry that best allows
expression of your gifts.
Invitation
Within two weeks after your audition and personal interview, the worship pastor may invite
you to become a member of the team and ask you to make a one-year commitment. If
there are any concerns, the worship pastor will address them with you personally. The
final decision to accept the invitation will be yours. Your first 60 days will be a probation
period. If at the end of that time you do not feel that this is the place for you and your
ministry, you will be released. Also, if the worship pastor feels that your gift of ministry
does not fit with that of the team, you may be asked to consider another area of ministry at
Victory Church.
