UPPER PART OF TENTACLES

Work in rows with main color. Make 8 pieces, but when you have finished crocheting
one upper part, crochet it together with one of the bottom parts. This way you can
continue using the working yarn and it will be less ends to weave in. See instructions
for crocheting the upper and bottom part of the tentacles together on the next page.

Chain 2.

1. Start in the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc in one st (3)

2. Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in each st (3)
3. Ch 1 and turn, 2 sc in the first st, 1 sc in the next st, 2 sc in the last st (5)
4-56. Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in each st for 53 rows (5)
57. Ch 1 and turn, 2 sc in the first st, 1 sc in the next 3 st, 2 sc in the last st (7)
58. Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in each st (7)
59. Ch 1 and turn, 2 sc in the first st, 1 sc in the next 5 st, 2 sc in the last st (9)
60. Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc in each st (9)

How to crochet the upper part and the bottom part of the
tentacles together:

Place the upper and lower parts of the tentacles together, with the puff stitches facing the underside. Lay the upper part over the lower
part, so that the yarn you're crocheting with is in the left corner when you hold the work in front of you.

You'll notice that the lower part is slightly longer than the upper part, even though the same number of rows are crocheted. This is
because the puff stitches create more height than the single crochet stitches. This difference in length gives the tentacles a slight curve.
Because of this difference in length, I recommend attaching the sides together with stitch markers.

With the yarn you used for the upper part, crochet the sides together with single crochet stitches. Make sure to crochet through
both the upper and lower part. Crochet 60 sc along the side.

Then, crochet 3 sc in the same stitch at the tip of the tentacle.

Crochet 60 sc along the opposite side. When crocheting along side 2, you'll need to stuff with fiberfill along the way.

How to sew the head, bottom and tentacles together:

It's also possible to crochet the pieces together, but personally, I find that sewing gives a neater finish, so I've included sewing
instructions in the pattern. Sewing with Baby Snuggle yarn can be challenging, so I recommend using thin cotton thread or sewing
thread.

We start by sewing together the bottom (of the body) and the bottom part of the tentacles. Mark the bottom with stitch markers in
every ninth stitch. You will sew the bottom part of one tentacle to 9 stitches on the bottom (of the body).

Continue sewing the bottom part of each tentacle to 9 stitches on the bottom. When you sew the next tentacle, also sew one stitch to
the tentacle next to it.

When all 8 tentacles are attached to the bottom, your work will look like this from the underside (left picture) and from the top
(right picture).

How to sew the upper part of the tentacles and the head together:
This is done the same way as we did with the bottom part of the tentacles and the bottom (of the body). Attach stitch markers in every
ninth stitch on the last round of the head.
When you have sewn on 6 out of 8 tentacles, it's time to stuff the head with fiberfill. Sew on the remaining tentacles.

EYES
Start in the center of the eye with the color White.
Work in continuous rounds.

1. 9 sc in magic circle (Do not close the magic circle too tight. You will need room to insert the safety eyes).
2. 2 sc in each st (18)
3-4. 1 sc in each st for 2 rounds (18)
5. *sc 2 tog* x 9 (9)

Insert safety eyes through the magic circle (round 1). Stuff the eye with fiber filling. Sew the final 9 stitches together.

EYELIDS
Start in the center of the eyelid with main color. Work in continuous rounds.

1. 9 sc in magic circle
2. 2 sc in each st (18)
3-5. 1 sc in each st for 3 rounds, finish off the last round with 1 sl st (18)

How to sew the eyes and eyelids together, and how to sew the eyes
to the octopus`s head:

Place the eyelids over the eyes so that the eyelids cover about 1/3 of the safety eyes. Sew the eyelids to the eyes in the back half, starting
from one side, along the back, and to the opposite side. You can use sewing thread or thin cotton thread for this. It may be difficult to sew
with Baby Snuggle yarn.

Next, sew the back of the eyelids to the octopus`s head at round number 32. Leave 7 stitches between the eyes. (If you feel that the eyes
need more attachment, you can also sew the lower part of the eyes to the head).
