IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS

QUIZ BEE MECHANICS

 The coverage of the quiz bee includes General Education-English.


 The groups will write their answers at the black part of the illustration board.
 All groups will answer the same set of questions. Before the questions are read, the group
must raise their markers (chalk).
 There will be 3 participants per teams.
 There will be three (3) rounds: easy, moderate, difficult.
 There will be a total of 10 questions for the whole game.
 The questions will be read by the Quizmaster twice.
 After the second reading, the Quizmaster will say “GO”, only then the groups are allowed
to write their answers. Automatically, the 20 seconds time limit will begin with the word
“GO” by the Quizmaster
 After the time-limit, the time keeper will say “STOP”, indicating to stop answering and
will raise their answer boards.
 The Quizmaster shall read and verify the answer of each group.
 The contestants will be ranked according to their total score to determine the winners.
 In the case of a tie, a tiebreaker question may be used to determine the winner.

SPELLING BEE MECHANICS

 The words will be selected from a predetermined list by the facilitators.


 The groups will write their answers at the black part of the illustration board.
 All groups will answer the same set of words. Before the words are read, the group must
raise their markers (chalk).
 The difficulty level of the words may increase as the competition progresses.
 The competition is divided into three (3) rounds: easy, moderate, difficult.
 There will be a total of 10 words to be spelled for the whole game.
 1 participant must be present in each team.
 The words will be read by the facilitator twice.
 After the second reading, the facilitator will say “GO”, only then the groups are allowed
to write their answers. Automatically, the 1 minute and 30 seconds time limit will begin
with the word “GO” by the facilitator.
 After the time-limit, the time keeper will say “STOP”, indicating to stop writing and will
raise their answer boards.
 The facilitator shall read and verify the answer of each group.
 The contestants will be ranked according to their total score to determine the winners.
 In the case of a tie, a tiebreaker question may be used to determine the winner.

ESSAY WRITING
 This Essay Writing Competition is open to all students of Institute of Teacher Education.
 There will be one (1) participant per organization.
 The topic will be given during the day of the contest proper.
 All entries must be written in English and must have at least 250 words and must not
exceed 600 words.
 All essays must be original and previously unpublished.
 All entries will be judged based on:
1. Content 40%
2. Originality 20%
3. Impact and Relevance 20%
4. Creativity, Style and Presentation 20%
TOTAL 100%
 All entries must follow the specification below:
- Paper/Pen: Provided by the host
- Margin: 1-inch margin on each side
- Contains at least three (3) paragraphs
 The participants shall be given one (1) hour to write and finish their piece.

POSTER AND SLOGAN MAKING


 Poster and Slogan piece must be based on the theme.
 A time limit will be set for the completion of the poster and slogan.
 The poster should be visually appealing, clear, and easily understandable.
 The slogan should be catchy, memorable, and relevant to the chosen theme.
 The illustration board is provided by the host, while the coloring equipments will be
provided by the contestants.
 The teams will present their poster and slogan to the judges or audience.
 1-2 participants must be present in each team.
Criteria:
- Visual Appeal 30%
- Clarity and Message 20%
- Creativity and Originality 30%
- Teamwork and Collaboration 10%
- Overall impact 10%
TOTAL 100%

RADIO BROADCASTING

 Each radio broadcast team shall be composed of five (5) members. The team shall decide
who shall act as anchor, field reporters, scriptwriter, technical person, etc.
 Each team shall write their own scripts for a 5-minute newscast in English. Scripts should
be based on the news items provided. The team shall be responsible for ranking these
items according to their news values. A specific time will be allotted for this which will
be announced before the contest.
 Each team shall make two (2) original copies of the script. One copy for use in its
presentation during the radio broadcast contest and the other copy to be submitted to the
facilitator for the reference of the panel of judges. No script revisions shall be allowed
once the contest proper started.
 A newscast must contain the ff: opening spiels, headlines, hard news, sports news,
showbiz report, a field report, closing spiels and commercial gaps. All materials
including the infomercials shall be prepared on the spot. Infomercials shall not be
prerecorded and shall be aired live.
 The order of presentation shall be done by drawing of lots.
 Presenting team shall be placed live on stage during the newscast so the audience and the
judges will see them.
 The facilitator shall serve as timekeeper for each presentation, computing the amount of
over/under time a team makes.
 After the allotted five (5) minutes newscast, the presenting team may not be able to
continue its radio broadcast as the audio will be cut.
 Corresponding deductions shall be made by the judges for the amount of over/under time
a team makes.
CRITERIA:
- 30% CONTENT (application of broadcast and journalism principles,
presentation of news items, etc.)
- 30% TIME MANAGEMENT
- 30% DELIVERY (projection, modulation, confidence, uniqueness, flow, and
creativity of the presentation)
- 10% AUDIENCE IMPACT

TOTAL: 100%

SONGS AND YELL

 The contest is open to all Institute of Teachers Education involved in the English month
celebration.
 Each participating team should have a minimum of 5-10 members.
 The participants are given the free-hand for their choice of costume and props.
(Excluding alluring clothing and combustible elements).
 The content of the piece must be related to the team being represented by the performing
group.
 The use of drums and other instrument are allowed.
 The copy of the piece to be presented should be submitted to the facilitator in at least a
day before the competition starts.
 The performance should last for 2-3 minutes and shall not exceed 5 minutes including the
entrance and exit.
 The committee has prepared official timer to take of the time consumed by each group.
Every exceeding minute is subjective to deduction of overall points.

- Mastery of steps 30%
- Teamwork and Synchronization 20%
- Costume and Props 10%

MESSAGE RELAY

Objective: To accurately and efficiently relay a message through a chain of participants, testing
communication skills, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Participants: 5 members.
Rules:
1. Line Formation: Participants will stand or sit in a straight line, facing forward.
2. Message Delivery: The first participant will be given the written message and must memorize
it.
3. Whispering: The first participant will whisper the message to the second participant, who will
then whisper it to the third, and so on.
4. No Repeating: Participants cannot look back at the message or repeat the message aloud.
5. Time Limit: A time limit can be set for the activity.
Regulations:
1. Message Preparation: The message should be clear, concise, and easy to understand. (provided
by the host)
2. Message Delivery: Participants must whisper the message clearly and accurately to the next
person in line.
3. No Looking Back: Participants cannot look back at the original message or at the person who
whispered the message to them.
4. No Talking: Participants cannot speak except to whisper the message to the next person in
line.
5. Final Relay: The last participant will write down the message as they received it. Criteria: -
Accuracy: The final message should match the original message as closely as possible. - Speed:
The team should aim to complete the relay within the time limit (if applicable). - Teamwork:
Participants should work together to ensure accurate communication and efficient relaying of the
message.
- Focus and Concentration:
Participants should maintain focus and avoid distractions throughout the activity.
- Communication Skills:
Participants should demonstrate clear and concise communication skills, particularly when
whispering the message.

ORATORICAL MECHANICS

 Oratorical piece must be based on the theme.


 The piece must be delivered in five (5) minutes and must not exceed in seven (7)
minutes.
 When the bell rings, exceeding 1 minute extension will result in a 1-point deduction.
 Attire should be in a organizational shirt or semi-formal.
Criteria:
- Content (Relevance to the theme) 30%
- Diction (Pronunciation/Enunciation/Intonation) 35%
- Mastery 10%
- Delivery (Gestures, Voice Projection, Modulation) 20%
- Stage presence 5%
TOTAL 100%

CULTURAL DANCE

 The contest is open to all Institute of Teachers Education involved in the English month
celebration.
 Each participating team should have a minimum of 5-10 members.
 The participants are given the free-hand for their choice of costume and props.
(Excluding alluring clothing and combustible elements).
 Each team will perform a traditional cultural dance, fostering appreciation for diverse
cultures and promoting teamwork and artistic expression.
 Dance Style: Choose a specific cultural dance style (e.g., Indian classical, African tribal,
Polynesian, etc.).
 The copy of the piece to be presented should be submitted to the facilitator in at least a
day before the competition starts.
 The performance should last for 2-3 minutes and shall not exceed 5 minutes including the
entrance and exit.
 The committee has prepared official timer to take of the time consumed by each group.
Every exceeding minute is subjective to deduction of overall points.

STAGE PLAY

Romeo and Juliet (Act 2, Scene 2) - Stage Play Rules and Regulations

Objective: To creatively and authentically portray the iconic balcony scene from
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, capturing the essence of the characters' emotions and the
play's themes.

Participants: Two actors, one playing Romeo and the other playing Juliet.

1. Dialogue: The actors must adhere to the original text from Act 2, Scene 2 of Romeo and
Juliet. 2. Movement: Movement should be purposeful and enhance the emotional impact of
the scene. Avoid excessive pacing or distracting gestures.

3. Voice: Actors must project their voices clearly and use appropriate tone and inflection to
convey the characters' emotions.

4. Eye Contact: Maintain eye contact with each other whenever possible, emphasizing the
intimacy and connection between Romeo and Juliet.

5. Blocking: The actors should work together to create a dynamic and visually engaging
scene. Consider the use of space and movement to highlight key moments.

6. Costumes: Simple costumes that reflect the period setting of the play are encouraged.

Criteria:

20% Emotional Connection: The actors must convincingly portray the love, passion, and
uncertainty felt by Romeo and Juliet.

20% Physicality: The movement and gestures should be natural and expressive, enhancing
the emotional impact of the scene.

20% Voice and Delivery: The actors should use their voices effectively to convey the
characters' emotions and the nuances of the text.

20% Stage Presence: The actors should command the stage with confidence and engage the
audience with their performance.

20% Overall Impact: The performance should be a compelling and memorable portrayal of
this iconic scene from Romeo and Juliet.

CHARACTER PORTRAYAL

 The contest is open to all students of Institute of Teachers Education.


 Participants can portray different literary characters, as well as movie, cartoon, or historic
personalities.
 Props can be used to add extra “wow” factor to impress the audience.
 Make sure to dress up properly. No revealing clothes allowed.
 Don’t forget to give the description of the character that you will portray live on stage
with a microphone. (Sayings, Quotes, Iconic lines).
Criteria:
- Character Portrayal 30%
- Poise and Appeal 30%
- Clarity of Voice 20%
- Creativity 20%
- Total 100%

BANNER-MAKING CONTEST MECHANICS

 The medium to create the banner will be digital.


 Each team must have at least 1-2 participants.
 The participant/s can use any editing apps or software (e.g photoshop, illustrator, picsart, canva,
etc)
 The canvas (shape and orientation) of the banner will be provided via Google Drive.

 The overall design must reflect the name of the team. (e.g Syntax Sirens – the team may use
scales, water, and etc. as assets of their design)
 The banner must use the color palette of the organization (e.g FUSEMEG LEXICON LYCANS
shall use the shades of purple)
 The banner must contain the name of the team. (e.g SSS
 Grammar Gryphons –EEDSOC) The text (Team Name) can be placed any way the participant/s
wants.
 The final output shall be in JPEG format with the highest resolution the participant/s can render.
 The participants shall submit the final output via Google Drive or Gmail.

Criteria for Judging

- Design Aesthetic (Visual appeal such as appropriate use of colors, fonts, and overall harmony) –
35%
- Creativity and Originality (Uniqueness of the design concept) – 25%
- Technical Quality ( Resolution and clarity of images and graphics) – 20%
- Online votes – 20%
