JOB PURPOSE:
Sandock Austral Shipyards is Africa’s leading commercial and naval Shipbuilder and
Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Company.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maritime Electrical Integration Manager to join
our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the seamless
integration of electrical systems on our vessels, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and
compliance with industry standards.

This role requires a deep understanding of maritime electrical systems, project management
skills, and a strong ability to collaborate with various teams. The incumbent will be required to
manage all aspects of electrical systems integration, including electronics, communications,
master control centre operations, steering and propulsion electronics, power and lighting, and all
ship diagnostics and control systems that the shipyard projects require, this may also involve
MRO requirements. Other aspects of the role include solving all technical issues, developing
applicable documentation, and supervising all internal and external resources assigned to all
projects.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the design, development, and integration of complex electrical systems, including
power distribution, automation, control systems, and communication networks.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to develop
comprehensive electrical system specifications and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and classification society
requirements.
• Manage electrical integration projects from inception to completion, including planning,
scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and challenges, and implement mitigation
strategies to ensure timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders, including shipyards subcontractors, suppliers, and
regulatory authorities, to facilitate smooth project execution, ensuring adherence to safety
protocols and quality standards.
• Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical systems to verify functionality and
compliance with design specifications.
• Monitor project deviations, concessions, ECPs, Departure from Specifications (DFS), and
Liaison Action Requests.
• Implementing Electrical standard practices for ship building and project specific e.g., Ship
system, Building system.
• Arrange and support any meetings related to the project within the electrical domain.
• Stay updated on industry’s best practices and emerging technologies to drive continuous
improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and
resource allocation. Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.
• Minimum of 10 years of commercial experience in Shipbuilding, Repair and/or Conversion,
or Maritime industry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
with various teams.
• Experience in the management of complex, multi-stakeholder projects and achieving
goals on time within budget and within quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent.


• Electrical Engineering/Electro Technical qualification.
• SAIMENA or similar engineering body.
