Visual Arts
Burraq/borak
The Burraq/borak is half-human and half-horse. A common artistic
element representing flight is significant in the Islamic tradition.
OKIR
Okir, also spelled okil or ukkil, is a term forrectilinear and
curvilinear plant-based designs .
Window screenor wall décor Boras
Since World War II, boras were painted with geometric designs,
and then later variations developed suchas those with a
dominant center design.
Dance
Singkil
Is an ethnic dance of the Philippines that has its origins
in the Maranao people of Lake Lanao.
Langka Baruang (Ape)
Tausug dance performed by men mimicking the
movements of mighty ape
Tumahik ( Pansak Pagbonoh )
Tumahik is the original Yakan war dance performed by a
man to symbolize his ability to protect his wife and
family.
Festival
The SK Festival
Every December 19, the Bangsamoro people celebrate
the arrival of Shariff Mohammad Kabunsuan, who
introduced Islam to Mindanao in the 16th century.
Maulidin-Nabi (December 27)
an Islamic celebration honoring the birthday of
Muhammad.
Kariyala Festival
Kariyala Festival is a cultural festival and founding
anniversary in the town of Wao in the province of Lanao
del Sur, Philippines held every February 22.

The first Bangsamoro National Artist. His signature
paintings feature vibrant colors and motifs like the
sarimanok, fish, and okir patterns.
Maru Aihara
Bangsamoro graphic artist and an Information
Technology (IT) graduate who possesses a profound
passion for painting and art in general.
Literature
Hudhud hi Aliguyon
It embodies the rich cultural heritage and values of the
Ifugao people.
PANUMTUMAN
Bahasa Sug word that translates to ‘memory’ or
‘remembrance. It has given marginalized voices a
platform, enriching the country’s literary discourse.
In Duwa Bud ( The Two Mountains)
A man and woman who died became mountains, Resting
between the Sea of Sulu and Zamboanga, the two
mountains must not referred to by travelers
