RELATIVE CLAUSES AND PREPOSITIONS

Note the position of the preposition in a relative clause:


Tom is talking to a woman. Do you know her?
Do you know the woman (who/that) Tom is talking to?
I slept in a bed last night. It wasn’t very comfortable.
The bed (that/which) I slept in wasn’t very comfortable.
Other examples:
Is this the information (that/which) you were looking for?
The women he fell in love with left him after a month.
The situation he was dreaming about happened suddenly in real life.

EXERCISE A Complete each sentence using a relative clause with a preposition. Choose from the box.

we went to a party last night you can rely on Gary I work with some people

I applied for a job you were looking for some books I saw you with a man

we were invited to a wedding you told me about a hotel
