Jellicoe

Career Paths.

For the last two years I have been studying performing arts at Jellicoe theatre. I have
discovered during my time here that performing arts can lead to various different
careers, not just acting. However if I wanted to pursue an acting career I’d have to think
about what step I could take after my course here at Jellicoe. I could apply to many
different stage schools and universities, depending on what my grades are at the end of
my course. I have thought about various courses I could take afterwards, such as
Contemporary Theatre which is what I’m most comfortable and interested in. I have
researched various Universities and Stage Schools that I could enrol in. Here is a few of
the Stage Schools that I have researched.

Stage School.

East 15 Acting School

"One of the UK's most innovative acting schools, East 15 has been training actors,
producers, directors and theatre technicians for stage, TV, film and radio for more than
40 years." - Quoted from Studylink website.

Applying and Audition - Auditions are required for all students undertaking courses that
involve acting.
Applicants based in the UK are offered an audition, which is typically a full day event.
Auditions and interviews take place at the campus where the course is based, either the
Loughton Campus or the Southend Campus. The auditions run from December through
to June.
Entry Requirements - For BA Acting and Contemporary Theatre, East 15 requires a
successful audition plus A-level grades of EE, BTEC National Certificate grade of PP.

Birmingham School of Acting

"Birmingham School of Acting is a small specialist institution offering full-time higher

education courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level and part-time and summer
school courses for adults, young people and children. It's good for the industry that
there is a British drama school as dynamic, forward thinking and progressive as
Birmingham School of Acting" - Quoted from the BSA website.

Applying and Audition - Entry onto a full time acting course is by a two-stage audition -
Initial and Recall. An application for audition can be made either online or through the
post. "We are proud of our audition system and are determined to help each applicant
do their best by making auditions a positive and useful learning experience - feedback is
given to every applicant at the inital audition." - Quoted from official BSA website. Initial
Auditions run from December to March, then Recall Audtions from December to June.
Audition fee is £46.
Entry Requirements - Participants should complete a degree course or equivalent, or to
have relevant professional experience.

Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Art

"Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts is a world-renowned centre for actor training. Its
graduates populate the performance industries and it is this commercial edge that
makes the BA (Hons) Acting course unique. It is one of the country's leading vocational
acting courses with an emphasis on professional development and employability. " -
Quoted from Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts website.

Applying and Audition - All applicants are asked to do an audition, and acceptance or
rejection is decided through an applicant’s achievement in audition and interview.

enable them to read dramatic and critical texts. Evidence must be provided such as
