It is becoming increasingly necessary that evidence of High Voltage Training be
provided, either by means of a separate Training Certificate or by a Certificate of
Competency issued after 01/01/2017 which does not include a “no High Voltage”
endorsement.
Electro-Technical Officer / ETO
Certification requirements (all must be valid including those that had previously no expiry
date):
An electrical qualification, or a formal Merchant Navy training course – HND
Electrical Technical Officer. However from 2017 it will be essential for all ETO’s to
hold an ETO CoC.
