Heroes and Villains Outline
In the modern world, a hero is defined as someone who is admired or idealized for
courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Heroes set role models for young
children, and they also symbolize deeper meanings. In the Marvel and DC universes, a hero is
someone who possesses magical abilities and qualities that make them stand out from regular
citizens. A hero can range from many things. A hero can be an average person, who puts others’
needs before their own. A hero can be an actual superhero who wears a cape and has magical
powers. Realistically, anyone can be a hero.
What qualities can make up a hero? For a hero, courage is very important. A hero cannot
be afraid to face the challenges to save other people. Their bravery will also encourage others to
stand against inequity. Heroes are also selfless. A hero must be devoted to helping others, so
devoted that they would help others before themselves. Being noble is also an important trait for
a hero. Being a hero means you must set a good example for others, meaning you must make
morally good decisions. Determination is also a very prominent trait. Determination allows a
hero to persevere through any obstacle.
Not all heroes go by one definition, but they certainly have the same general purpose.
Some heroes don’t have powers or anything special, some are humans like everyone, while
2
others do have superpowers and have risen from a negative past. Take Batman for example.
Batman started as a regular person, when one day, “BOOM!”, his life was changed forever.
When Batman was a child, he went by Bruce, and his parents were brutally murdered, leaving
him traumatized. He decided to use all of this to motivate and push him to help others so they
wouldn’t have to go through what his parents went through.
Batman is extremely intelligent, he is very determined, and strong. He uses his fear of
vulnerability as a way to determine himself to fight against all evil and save others. His
problem-solving skills and empathy can help him work towards rebounding from a loss. He is a
symbol of self-sacrifice in some ways. He is willing to put his own life on the line because he
knows he must protect anyone he can at all costs, no matter the person because it is the right
thing to do. He has very high morals in such cases. He is also willing to give up anything
possible to protect the lives of others and fight crime. This makes him a great role model for
people who are willing to sacrifice their needs for the greater good of others.
While believing he needs to protect everyone, he also believes he needs to protect the
Joker. While in some cases, this is not the most suitable, it is the most empathetic way to view it.
He believes the Joker is capable of being cured and that it is his responsibility to do so because
he is the hero in this case. He wants to help as many people as possible, no matter how bad they
are or how much damage they have done to others.
What exactly makes him different from other superheroes? He doesn’t have any
ACTUAL superpowers. He relies more on his intellect, fighting skills, and his motivation. His
determination, commitment, and resourcefulness further back up his extraordinary qualities. His
3
parent’s deaths are nothing new to DC background stories, but Batman grew the most from his
misfortune.
What exactly does Batman symbolize? He's a symbol of justice and determination.
Batman proves that anyone can be a hero, even without superpowers. Whether it's fighting crime
in Gotham City or dealing with his own personal problems , Batman reminds us to never give up
and always strive to do what's right.
In conclusion, there are many definitions and variants of what a hero is and can be. A
hero can be an average person who constantly shows their selfless qualities, loyalty, integrity,
honor, and any other quality that could better benefit others. A hero can be an actual superhero
who wears a cape and has magical abilities. A hero can be someone who was an average person,
but when put in a conflict, they chose the choice that would better benefit others in a deeply
impactful manner, in a way that could change others’ lives
