Pattern

INFO AND TIPS

Structure:

The slipover is worked in stockinette stitch top down in one piece. First, the back part is worked
back and forth in rows and then, increases will be worked to shape the armholes. For the front
part, stitches will be picked up along the back part. Then, the round neck will be shaped with
increases and after joining both front parts, increases for the armholes are worked like for the
back part before. Finally, the back and front part are joined by casting on new stitches under
each armpit and the body is now finished in stockinette stitch in the round. Last but not least, a
hem in 1x1 ribbing is added to the body. A double folded collar is now added to the neckline as
well as double folded hems to the armholes.

Finally, the design highlight is added to the slipover: The front part is covered with embroidered
flowers for a spring-like, feminine and a little bit romantic look.

The fit of the slipover is quite loose due to the positive ease. The length is cropped and
therefore, the design is the perfect addition for high waisted trousers, skirts or dresses.

Notes:

Edge stitches (first and last stitch of every row) are always knitted. They are included into the
total number of stitches.

Increases: The increases to shape the armholes and the round neck are always worked in a rsr:
Therefore, m1l after the first stitch and m1r before the last stitch of a rsr.
Make 1 right: Insert your needle under the strand of yarn between the stitch you have just
knitted and the next stitch from back to front and place it on your left needle. Knit it through the
front loop.
Make 1 left: Insert your needle under the strand of yarn between the stitch you have just knitted
and the next stitch you are going to knit from front to back and place it on your left needle. Knit
it through the back loop so that it is twisted.

Stockinette stitch: k all sts in rsr, p all sts in wsr.

Alice - Slipover | No. 2153-243-7535 | © Hobbii 2024 | 3

The slipover is worked with 2 strands of fingering weight yarn held together.

BACK PART
Cast on 53| 57 | 57 (61 | 61 | 65) 65 | 69 sts on your 4.5 mm knitting needles with 2 strands of
yarn held together and with your preferred cast-on-method (R1). The first r after casting on is a
wsr (R2), where you p all sts (except the edge sts, they are always knitted).

Now work in stockinette stitch for in total 42| 42 | 42 (44 | 44 | 44) 44 | 44 rs. Then, start to
shape the armholes from the next rsr onwards:

How to shape the armholes:

The increases to shape the armholes are always worked in a rsr. Therefore, m1l after the first st
and m1r before the last st of every rsr (= in total 2 increases per rsr). In wsr, p all sts (except the
edge sts, they are always knitted).

Repeat the increases in total 12 | 12 | 14 (14 | 16 | 16) 18 | 18 times (= 24 | 24 | 28 (28 | 32 |

32) 36 | 36 rs). Now you should have in total 77 | 81 | 85 (89 | 93 | 97) 101 | 105 sts on your
knitting needles. End with a wsr, cut the yarn, put the sts to rest and start over with the front
part.

FRONT PART
The front part is first worked separately: First, the left shoulder and then the right shoulder,
both with increases to shape the round neck. After joining both front parts, the armhole
increases are worked like for the back part before.

Left Shoulder:

Pick up 14| 16 | 16 (18 | 18 | 20) 20 | 22 sts along the left side of the cast-on-row of the back
part. The first r after casting on is a wsr, where you p all sts. Now work for in total 10 rs in
stockinette stitch.

Now, in the next rsr, start to work the increases for the round neck as follows: m1l after the first
st of every rsr. In wsr, p all sts without any increases (the edge sts are still knitted). Repeat the
round neck increases in every rsr for the next 20 | 20 | 22 (22 | 24 | 24) 24 | 24 rs (= 24 | 26 |
27 (29 | 30 | 32) 32 | 34 sts). Put the sts to rest and start over with the right front part.

Right Front:

Pick up 14| 16 | 16 (18 | 18 | 20) 20 | 22 sts along the right side of the cast-on-row of the back
part. Then, follow the instructions for the left shoulder section – with the only difference that the
increases for the round neck are worked as m1r before the last st of every rsr.

As soon as you have in total 24 | 26 | 27 (29 | 30 | 32) 32 | 34 sts on your knitting needles, join
both front parts as follows:

Alice - Slipover | No. 2153-243-7535 | © Hobbii 2024 | 4

How to join both front parts:

In the next rsr, k the sts of the right front without round neck increases. Cast on 5 | 5 | 3 (3 | 1 |
1) 1 | 1 new sts after the last st and then work the sts of the left front without round neck
increases (= 53| 57 | 57 (61 | 61 | 65) 65 | 69 sts). In the next wsr, p all sts.

How to finish the front part:

Now work 8 | 8 | 8 (10 | 8 | 8) 8 | 8 rs in stockinette stitch. In the next rsr, start to shape the
armholes with increases. Therefore, follow the instructions for the back part until you have in
total 77 | 81 | 85 (89 | 93 | 97) 101 | 105 sts on your knitting needles. Do not cut the yarn,
because now the back and front part are joined to the round.

Connection of back and front part

In the next rsr, k all sts of the front part without any increases. Then, cast on 1 | 1 | 2 (5 | 6 | 7)
8 | 12 sts under the first armpit. K the sts of the back part without any increases and cast on
again 1 | 1 | 2 (5 | 6 | 7) 8 | 12 sts under the second armpit. Now, place a SM After the last st,
this is your new beginning of the round. You should have in total 156 | 164 | 174 (188 | 198 |
208) 218 | 234 sts on your knitting needles.

FINISHING THE BODY

Now work for in total 15 | 15 | 15 (20 | 20 | 20) 25 | 25 cm / 6 | 6 | 6 (7.75 | 7.75 | 7.75) 9.75 |
9.75 inches all sts in stockinette stitch in the round – or until you have reached your individual
desired length. You then might need more or less yarn than indicated in the pattern. Please
note that the hem will add around 6 cm / 2.25 inches to the final length of the slipover.

Change to 3.5 mm knitting needles and work in 1x1 ribbing from the next round onwards: *k1,
p1*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. After 6 cm / 2.25 inches, cast off all sts with
an elastic bind-off-method.

DOUBLE FOLDED HEM ALONG THE ARMHOLES AND DOUBLE FOLDED

COLLAR AROUND THE NECKLINE
Pick up sts with your 3.5 mm knitting needles with 2 strands of yarn held together along the
armholes. I recommend to pick up 2 sts per 3 rs and 1 st per 1 st. If you have a tighter knitting
tension, I recommend to pick up 1 st per 1 r. If you have a looser knitting tension, I recommend
to pick up 1 st per 2 rs. Your total number of sts therefore depends on your individual knitting
tension, but it should be an even number of sts to make the 1x1 ribbed pattern work out.

Now work for 10 rs in 1x1 ribbing (*k1, p1*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round). Then,
p all sts in the next round. Then, continue to work all sts in 1x1 ribbing for the next 10 rs. Then,
cast off all sts elastically. Fold the hem along the purl round to the inside of your slipover and
from the inside of the slipover, sew the cast-off-row to the pick-up-row.

Repeat the instructions for the 2nd armhole and the round neck.

EMBROIDERED FLOWERS ON THE FRONT PART
Now, the slipover is covered with small, embroidered flowers. I recommend to wash and block
the slipover before embroidering the flowers to make sure that you can embroider on an even
surface.

The flowers are placed close to each other over the whole front part like shown on the picture
below:

The size of the flowers is shown on the next picture:

The flowers are embroidered with 2 strands of yarn held together. You can find a video of how
to embroider the flowers here: [Link]
