China sourcing (buying and shipping) course

What you need for successful China shopping

1) Supplier
2) Freight Forwarder (aka Shipping agent)
3) Payment media

*1) Supplier

Suppliers are found on China wholesale apps like Alibaba.I use Alibaba because it has buyers
protection. You can get suppliers on
the internet and other Chinese sites.Or you can send your Freight forwarder a picture of the
product you are looking for and they will find suppliers for you.

*2) Freight Forwarder

The company to ship(transport) your goods from China to Zimbabwe. Shipping just means
transportation.Whether air or sea or rail or road.
Goods are charged per kg for air freight (duty inclusive)...and for sea freight there are
charged per volume + duty(weight x cost/kg).Volume is calculated as lengh x width x
height.And 1cbm is equal to 1m x 1m x 1m.The minimum charge for most agents is 0.1 CBM
(cubic meter).So you are given the dimensions of your parcel and you divide the volume by
1CBM.And then ADD weight x cost/KG to get the total DUTY to be paid.
You can order a full container (FCL full container load) and you can also pay for LCL(less
than container load) depending on your budget and type of goods.Freight and duty is paid
upon delivery or half down, depending with your agent.

*3) Payment media

You can pay online on Alibaba with. Mastercard ,Visa card of any bank you wish.I
recommend the Ecocash Virtual Card.Which you can
create at any Ecocash outlet.And it is affordable, just 0.50 usd and no loading fees.So when
you open it a message with the card
number and CVV will be sent to you.Those are the only details required when making
payment.

Or you can pay in Chinese RMB (their currency).Your freighter will assist you with paying
the supplier in RMBs.

product phone images and videos so you are satisfied with quality.ALWAYS ask for
Alibaba payment link.NEVER pay outside Alibaba unless you are being assisted by
your freighter.Also you can ask your freighter to verify the supplier for you in
 China.You can also ask for their shop names on Alibaba and chat with them on the
platform.Its wiser to chat on the platform so that if there is any dispute you can
produce proof to Alibaba.I use Whatsapp because i save on data.

The questions you ask your Freight Forwarder

1) The cost of goods per kg ,air or ship.Air cargo(9-14 days), Air express(1-3days) ,Sea
express(1-3days),Sea Shipping (50-55days)
To assess whether you can afford them

2) Time taken for delivery

3) Where their offices are located in Zim( so you know were to make payment, enquire or
pay for freight)

4)The air or sea shipping address (depending on what you want air or sea)and shipping mark(
the details to be put on your parcel)

Questions to ask a supplier

Example of a conversation between a buyer and supplier.

Buyer: i want 50 pieces of the item

Supplier: Hi friend.Where do you want the goods delivered(that is the warehouse address of
where you want the goods to go..This
address you ask for it from your Freight Forwarder.Once you get it ,copy and paste it from
WhatsApp as it is to your Supplier)

Supplier: Oh thank you .The shipping fee to your warehouse is 2usd (there is a small
shipping fee from factory to warehouse)

Buyer: Ok thanks.What is the total weight of the goods.

Supplier: The weight of the goods is 3kg.Can i send you the payment link (this is the invoice
to pay the supplier.And this is how i advise you ALWAYS pay because its
bases on agreed prices)

Buyer : Yes please (then you review the order, see if you are satisfied, then proceed to pay)
The only details needed for payment are the card number and CVV sent to your messages by
Econet or the numbers written front and
bank on your Mastercard or Visa card
