Lesson Title Understanding and Using Punctuation Marks
Identify and use common punctuation marks correctly.
Lesson Objectives Understand the importance of punctuation in writing.
Apply punctuation rules in real-world examples.(Specifically while reading)
Ask students to open their notebooks and draw a table with two columns.
Column 1: List or draw all the punctuation marks they know.
Introduction /Engage
Have students share their responses in pairs, discussing their lists.
After the discussion, ask them to add new punctuation marks they learned from their partners in the second column.
Open a PowerPoint slide showing a paragraph with no punctuation.
Ask students: "What do you think of this paragraph? How can we improve it?"
Guided Discovery Activity/ Procedure
Facilitate a brief class discussion on the role of punctuation in making writing clear and understandable.

Play a short video about punctuation marks to reinforce the concept.
After the video, ask for takeaways or new information learned.

Encourage students to participate and write the corrected sentences on the board.
Group Activity:
Divide the class into small groups and give each group a piece of paper.
Students will write down or draw the punctuation marks they have learned and explain their functions.
Once completed, the groups will stick their chart paper on the wall allowing students to see each other's
work.
Evaluate/ Exit Ticket/ Formative
In their notebooks, students will write down what they learned about each punctuation mark from the lesson
assessment
