Productivity – data availability, faster and more efficient workflows.

Efficiency – can eliminate manual data entry, reduce duplication of efforts, and automate repetitive
tasks. This streamlined workflow saves time and resources.

Effectiveness – enhanced customer experience, improved communication, reduced cost.

 It isn’t hard (if skilled) … but give time

System integration is still a challenging technical task. Here are some of the complexities that
you'll probably have to navigate if you decide to connect your systems. Compatibility issues.

Need to know networking, databases, system, security and so on

Physical Components

consist of various machine systems, computer hardware, etc.

Virtual Components

Data stored in database, software and application.

Page 3-4

Example figure is Real estate Property,

API any software with a distinct function. Is simply a way for different systems or applications to
communicate with each other.

Why Need API?

Restaurant(response) and you(request). The application used for the restaurant is API.

E:g: Whatapp API can integrate into messaging platforms, Gcash and Paypal API payment platforms.

Example is 7 eleven is the largest convenience store chain in the world.

Practice of connecting smaller system into one seamless structure (walang katapusang
pagmamaintain). You learn a lot when connecting system from smallest to largest knowledge or yung
tinatawag nating experience.

System integration poses challenges, including the

 complexity of system architectures – combination of physical, logical, electrical, and technical.

 compatibility issues - E.g: a company that uses a router that does not support the latest Wi-Fi
standard may experience compatibility issues when trying to connect newer devices to the
network. SOLUTIONS
CRM and ERP system, you made changes
in CRM but not reflected in the other system (ERP). resulting in outdated or conflicting data.
 limited resources – suppliers, skilled workers, API, etc.

Examples of effective system integration planning and design include thorough requirements analysis,
defining clear objectives, creating a detailed integration roadmap, and establishing communication
protocols among interconnected systems.

Page 8

Communication – it breaks down communication barriers(department), dahil nga system integration

mayroong rights ang bawat department na magshare ng data to each other.

Problem – Data inconsistency, complexity, resources, security?

Coordination – Coordination and collaboration on different departments based on data na pwede nila
ianalyze to achieve their goal. Nagccocoordinate sila kasi para magkaroon ng data analyze and what the
outcome b anito, maachieve ba natin goals natin o hindi.

Computing – Hardware and software involved. Not actual computing (actual activity that happens in a
system. Input, process and output).

Functionality – Functionality each department.

Business – The user of system, yung data nila dito sa system kinikeep and can access, share, analyze to
achieve their goals.

System – Actual System.

Airtight means not allowing air to escape or pass through.

Personnel – employee

Independently – no collaboration

functional unit – one person

Horizontal small business. Vertical big business

Management philosopher – sial yung nag aasist sa manager in leading others.

POSDCORB is a most widely used in the field of management and public administration that reflects the
classic view of organizational theory.

Business Operation

PLANNING – There are four phases of a proper organizational plan: strategic, tactical, operational, and
contingency.
 Thinking in advance what to do and how to do it.

ORGINIZING – assignment of task, group of tasks into department.

STAFFING – Pumapasok ang HR. recruiting, selection, training, developing, promotion and compensation
of employee.

DIRECTING – leading, guiding, instructing, supervising, and motivating employees.

COORDINATING – ensures that different department and groups work in sync.

REPORTING – Pinakamahalagang parte ng business operation. It helps to measure the performance of

the organization and compare it againts to the nearest competitor.

 Data analysis to guide decision-making and to allow business owners and senior managers the
opportunity to investigate and solve any identified issues.

BUDGETING – Budgeting allows organizations to see the necessary finances to attain organizational goals
and objectives.

Page 13-14

Strategic Management – planning, organizing, staffing

strategic planning looks at long-term goals and objectives, tactical planning focuses on the short-term –
day-to-day actions necessary to achieve the goals laid out in the strategic plan.

strategy is the action plan that takes you where you want to go, the tactics are the individual steps and
actions that will get you there.

TOP-STRATEGIC CEO and PRESIDENT, MANAGER

MID-TACTICAL SUPERVISOR, QA, Sales Rep

he main functional activities can be grouped under the four main functional areas - marketing,
manufacturing, human resources and finance.

Page 16

The evolution pf computer began on a single system means can process only 1 task. Hanggang lumilipas
ang panahon unti unti nag grown up yung IS at dito naimbento ang ERP.

Page 17

1. CRIRICAL COMPONENT – That is true, isa sa pinakakritical na bahagi/part ng organization ang IS.
If wala kang system you cannot work as the same as the company/organization that uses IS.
Tulad nung pandemic puro online transaction.
2. That is true din, Production, marketing and sales, and delivery is the primary activity that focuses
on customer satisfaction, HR, accounting, and finance. Another example is e-government uses IS.
3. High automated system support automatic process and procedures para mas mapabilis ang
trabaho at makapagproduce ng productive na output.

Organizational dynamics are the ways in which various types of people interact within a company. These
interactions may include the relationships between customers, employees, suppliers, and organizational
leaders.

A system architecture is the conceptual model that defines the structure, behavior(interaction), and
more views of a system.

Page 22

Example of ERP Concepts

Creation of Service Specifications – Create ng description ng business at an ano yung product/services na

required o kailangan ng business mo.

Source determination – List of available vendor na pwede mong pamilian. Each vendor have different
details.

PO – You can create a Purchase order and sent to supplier.

PO order monitoring – Track the PO from the time they created hanggang sa marecived ito

Service entry – ieentry mo if may kulang bas a idineliver.

Payment – bayad

Invoice verification – check yung mga product or services if match sa resibo (walang kulang o meron ba)

Service acceptance – If meron mang kulang o sobra sasabihin sa nagdeliver para alam nila then ibibigay
yung resibo na isa pero walang check.

Improve Accuracy and Productivity searching of student name.

Improves Reporting real time data sharing like sales, finance, inventory, production and so on.

Improves Efficiency quick access information like sales finance, inventory, production and so on.

Cross Department Collaboration communication of every department to avoid error even in other
country.

Focus on business process rather than function.
yung gui. Parang krismas light. Maganda pala yung function. Business process can affect the satisfaction
of custumer and client. Pag mabagal kasi galit user or client. Pag pangit gamitin galit din yan.

Software lisencing to protect softwares company. It defines how software can be used, customer

CHAPTER 2
Information-oriented

 If two or more systems converge, allowing sending and receiving data from each other.
 Sample activities are:
 Connecting databases
 Dealing with basic data transfers between two or more applications.
 Migrating data from source database to destination database. Organization migrate data
for many different reasons:
 Legacy system to new System, costly because it composed of outdated
hardware, w/c can be expensive to maintain and difficult to replace. Sometimes
parts are difficult to find.
 Moving into cloud environment
 Improved data storage and security

database schema defines how data is organized within a relational database.
