Instructions
1. Please make sure that there are total 6 problems in this paper.
2. The Time limit for this exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Submissions after that will not be
evaluated.
3. Write your solution in an A4 sheet, scan it upstraight and upload the solutions page-wise
in the google classroom. Else the submission will not be evaluated. Skipping the essential
proofs will not get full credit.
4. Out of the total 6 problems, answering completely any 3 of them will give you full
marks for this paper. Only 3 problems will be evaluated, so there is no use of
answering more than 3 problems. The extra one mark will be given for good
presentation of the solution.
5. Do not attempt to search for the solutions online as you are proctored and all
solutions available online are available to us as well, so we would easily identify
you if you try to see solutions online. Those people will be directly removed from
this batch.

Problem 1
33 Marks

Let ABC be a triangle with orthocenter H and let M be the midpoint of BC . Denote by ωB
the circle passing through B, H, and M, and denote by ωC the circle passing through C , H,
and M. Lines AB and AC meet ωB and ωC again at P and Q, respectively. Rays PH and QH
meet ωC and ωB again at R and S, respectively. Prove that M, R, S are collinear.

Problem 2
33 Marks

The vertices Y , Z , W of the rectangle WXYZ lie on the sides PQ, QR, RS respectively of an
equilateral triangle PQR in such a way that PY = 2, WR = 1, the vertex X lies outside the
triangle. Find the value of ∠ZYW .

Problem 3
33 Marks

Consider four lines t1 , t2 , t3 , t4 in the 2D−plane. Suppose that no two of those four lines are
parallel. Let Cijk represent the circumcircle of the triangle formed by the lines ti , tj , tk . Then
prove that C123 , C124 , C134 , C234 pass through a common point.

Problem 4
33 Marks

Suppose that a point X lies on the lateral side QR of a △PQR, where the △PQR is isoceles.
The ray PX intersects the line passing through Q and parallel to the base PR at a point Y .
Show that the tangent to the circumcircle of △PQX at Q divides the segment YR into two
equal halves.

Problem 5
33 Marks

The side YZ of the △XYZ is extended beyond Z to P so that ZP = YZ . The side ZX is

extended beyond X to Q so that XQ = 2ZX . If XP = YQ, then find the value of ∠ZXY of
the △XYZ .

Problem 6
33 Marks

The median ZD and the altitude XK of an acute-angled triangle XYZ intersect at a point T .
A point R lies outside the triangle in such a way that XTZR is a parallelogram. Find the
expression for the length of YR interms of p, q, if DT = p, TZ = q.
