DIFFRENTIATION
Starter Teacher shows a gift box and asks students to :
(5 minutes) 1) guess what is inside the gift box
2) how are they feeling when they receive a gift? Why?
Presentation:

Pre Lesson 1. Teacher explains what it means to make prediction by emphasising


(15 minutes) on the educated guess about what will happen next in a story based on
evidence.
2. Teacher show a short video (with the ending open) and model the
process of making prediction:
 Think aloud: Identifying clues from the plot or scenes
For examples: I noticed that the character seems very happy which
makes me think that something good will happen in the end.
 Prediction formation: Based on the clues, justify the reason
of the prediction. Introduce pupils to structured phrases such
as I predict …… because ….. when expressing their prediction
 Sentence construction: Incorporate the structured phrases
with descriptive language and past tense. Teacher provides
example of ending prediction and asks students to focus on the
sentence structure.

Warm-up Activity (10 minutes)


1. Teacher play a short video and pupils are required to identify the
setting and characters of the story. Teacher posts these questions on
white board.
Where does the story take place?
Who are the characters in the story?

Activity 1: Think Aloud (15 minutes)


1. Teacher replay the video. While watching, students focus on the
visual clues from the plot/ scenes.
Lesson 2. Pupils are selected randomly to share their responses on the visual
Development/ clues that they has identified.

activities Activity 2: Prediction Formation (15 minutes)
1. Based on the clues, pupils (in pairs) are required to share their
prediction with their shoulder partner.
2. Story Circle Share-out: each pair write their responses on the chart
paper, using different colours to represent everyone’s prediction.
2. Pupils are selected randomly to share and justify their prediction by
using the structured phrases.

Activity 3: Sentence Construction (15 minutes)


1. Individually, pupils write a paragraph of ending based on the
prediction shared in previous activity by incorporating descriptive
language and past tense.

Assessment 1. Pupils are given 5 emojis. They choose an emoji that represents how
(10 minute) they feel about the story. They explain why they choose the emoji
