Level Elementary Teacher Mr. Arosman Aguilar
Frequency 6 Hours Grade 6th Grade
Week: June 03rd to June 07th, 2024.
Unit III: Ratios and proportional relationships.
Topic: Equivalent Ratios and the multiplication tables, Find unit rate.
Purposes: To use a multiplication table to find equivalent ratios.

Greets and Instructions:

About the topic:
Students may wonder why they use multiplication to write equivalent ratios. A table can help
students see that there is a multiplicative relationship among equivalent ratios.
Let’s see the following scenario: Suppose that there are 3 erasers for every 4 pencils. For 2
groups of 4 pencils, there are 3 erasers for each group. This means there are 6 erasers for 8
pencils. Continue the table.
The number of erasers increases by 3, and the number of pencils increases by 4. This shows
that equivalent ratios are multiplicative:
Erasers: 3, 6, 9, 12.
Pencils: 4, 8, 12, 16
When you know how to find unit rates it allows you to easily compare rates. This prepares you
for real-world situations, such as comparing prices to save money.
A 14-ounce bottle of pancake syrup costs $3.64.
A 17-ounce bottle of syrup costs $4.25
After finding the unit rates, it is easy to compare the prices per ounce. The 17-ounce bottle is
the better buy.

$3.64 ÷14 $0.26 $4.25 ÷17 $0.25
