Plant Recognition Using Leaves

Problem Statement:

In our surrounding or in nature we many a times come across some

and a lot of unseen plants and ignore them because we have no base
of knowledge regarding them. Although not all time plants we see are
useless some of them also can we used to have medication as well for
livelihood.

This project aims to imparts the knowledge of Fauna species that exist
near us by using their leaves image as input and providing a helpful
knowledge regarding the plant using machine learning techniques.

Objectives:

The objective of the project "Plant Recognition Using Leaves Image"

is to develop an automated system that can identify and classify plant
species based on images of their leaves. By leveraging computer
vision and machine learning techniques, the project aims to provide a
user-friendly interface where users can upload images of plant leaves,
and the system will analyze the leaves to determine the plant species
and provide relevant specifications and information about the
identified plants.
1. Automated Plant Identification: Develop an automated
system that can accurately identify plant species based on
images of their leaves. The primary goal is to eliminate the need
for manual plant identification and provide a faster and more
efficient way to recognize plants.

2. User-Friendly Interface: Create an intuitive and user-

friendly interface that allows users to easily upload or capture
leaf images and obtain quick results regarding the identified
plant species. The interface should be accessible to users with
varying levels of technical expertise.

3. High Accuracy and Reliability: Aim for a high level of

accuracy and reliability in plant recognition. The system should
be capable of correctly identifying a wide range of plant species,
even with variations in leaf size, shape, and environmental
conditions.

4. Scalability: Design the system to be scalable, allowing for the

inclusion of new plant species and continuous updates to
improve the recognition capabilities over time.

5. Real-Time or Near-Real-Time Processing: Strive to

achieve real-time or near-real-time processing of leaf images,
enabling users to receive instant results for immediate plant
identification.
6. Support for a Diverse Plant Dataset: Ensure that the
system can handle a diverse dataset of plant species with
varying leaf characteristics, covering both common and rare
plants from different regions.

7. Accessibility for Educational and Conservation

Purposes: Make the plant recognition system accessible for
educational purposes, aiding students, botanists, researchers, and
nature enthusiasts in learning about different plant species.
Additionally, contribute to conservation efforts by enabling easy
identification and documentation of plant biodiversity.

8. Robustness to Environmental Variations: Account for

variations in lighting, background, and image quality to build a
robust recognition system capable of handling images taken in
different environments and conditions.

[Link] and Explainability: If using advanced

machine learning models, aim to provide interpretability and
explainability features that allow users to understand how the
system arrived at its identification decision.
