Class XII English ALS Project Guidelines

ENGLISH ALS PROJECT

➢ The portfolio of project may include all the points given in each project.
➢ The project must contain at least 20-25 sheets.
➢ Use as many pictures/photographs as you require.
➢ Use sketch pens for headings and blue/coloured pens for content.
➢ Use A4 size white/coloured/designer paper sheets for the project and after
compiling everything it should be submitted as a file.

Note: The project should be handwritten. CLASS XII


MARKING SCHEME
 The project consists of 10 MARKS.
 Out of which, 5 MARKS will be allotted for the PROJECT FILE,
 And the remaining 5 MARKS for the VIVA based on the file.
 The viva will be conducted by the EXTERNAL EXAMINER.
 PARAMETERS for SPOKEN Assessment: Interaction, Pronunciation,
Vocabulary & Grammar, Accuracy, Communication, Fluency &
Coherence
Suggestions for Project Work:
The Project can be inter-disciplinary in theme. The ideas/issues highlighted in
the chapters/ poems/ drama given in the prescribed books can also be developed
in the form of a project. Students can also take up any relevant and age-
appropriate theme.
DO ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
A) INTERVIEW – BASED RESEARCH
Students can choose a topic to do their research/ interview in sync with
their prescribed chapters

 Eg. Problems of Child Labour and existing laws in India (Lost


Spring)
 Women Empowerment and Gender sensitization
 Impact of Brain drain on Indian Economy
 Animal Protection Act and its relevance in India
 Ethics in the Medical Field
 Artificial intelligence in healthcare: Understanding the role of AI in
healthcare and its potential benefits and drawbacks
 Mental health in the workplace: Discussing the importance of
mental health in the workplace and ways to create a healthy work
environment ( The Third Level)
 Indian literature: Analyzing the works of prominent Indian authors
and their impact on Indian literature and culture
 Renewable energy: Understanding the importance of renewable
energy and ways to promote its usage for a sustainable future
 Indian cinema: Analyzing the evolution of Indian cinema and its
cultural significance
 Poverty in India: Understanding the issue of poverty in India and
ways to eradicate it
 Pollution: Analyzing the impact of pollution on the environment
and ways to reduce it ( Journey to the End of the Earth)
 Women empowerment in India: Analyzing the changing role of
women in society through literature & real-life examples
 Impact of social media on youth: Discussing the positive and
negative effects of social media on young people’s lives
 Importance of education: Investigating the significance of
education and its impact on individuals and society
 Climate change: Understanding the causes, effects, and possible
solutions to the issue of climate change ( Journey to the End of the
Earth)
 Cyber security: Analyzing the importance of cyber security in
today’s digital world and ways to protect personal data and
information

Then the students will conduct interviews with their fellow friends after framing
questions based on the preliminary research/background
The students will then write an essay/ write up / report etc. up to 1000 words on
their research. Later on, there will be a viva on the project.

B) Listen to podcasts/ interviews/radio or TV documentaries on a topic and


prepare a report countering or agreeing with the speakers.
Write a report in 800 - 1000 words. There will be a VIVA on the submitted
report.
C) Students can create their own video/ Audio, after writing a script. Before
they decide on a format, the following elements must be taken into
consideration:
 Theme/topic of the audio/video. Would the child like to pick a current
issue or something artistic like theatre?
 What are the elements that need to be a part of the script?
 Would the video/audio contain an interview with one or more guests
 What would be the duration?
 How would they present the script/report to the teacher?

CONTENT OF THE PROJECT FILE:


 The project file may include the following:
 The cover page, with the title of the project, school details, and student
details, is neatly written.
 Certificate of Completion under the guidance of the teacher (sample will
be given)
 Objectives of the topic.
 Action Plan for the completion of assigned tasks (steps involved in doing
the project)
 The 800-1000 word essay/report.
 Student reflections (what new learning experience/outcome you have
achieved after completing the project)
 If possible, photographs that capture the positive learning experience of
the students (collages/pics from various online sources)
 List of References/Resources/Bibliography/site address of the videos
watched or audio listened for completing the project (Last page of the
project file)
