EDUCATION AND TRAINING

BS Electrical Engineering
Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences [ 09/09/2011 – 13/06/2015 ]
City: Islamabad | Country: Pakistan

PROJECTS

[ 01/06/2014 – 01/06/2015 ]
Abnormal Cardiac Beat Detection Using Support Vector Machines The project involved the acquisition of
cardiac activity using micro-controllers and real-time analysis of cardiac waveform for the detection of abnormal
cardiac beat. A program for acquiring data using PIC micro controller from ECG sensors was written. The data was
then sent to a script written in Python and executed on Raspberry Pi for abnormal cardiac beat detection.

[ 01/11/2016 – 01/11/2017 ]
MCSA for Induction Machine Fault Detection Using Filter Banks A model using MATLAB for various induction
machine faults (stator faults, rotor faults, eccentricity faults, etc.) was developed. The current signature was then
analyzed for harmonics using filter banks and wavelet transforms. Based on the output of filter banks, the health
of induction machines was predicted.

[ 10/12/2018 – Current ]
Commissioning of Plant Systems Commissioning of various plant systems due to obsolescence and ageing
issues was done. The tasks included developing system requirements and specification documents, contract
documents, FAT and SAT. The list of systems that were replaced include:
• Plant Computer System
• Digital Electro-hydraulic System
• Seismic Instrumentation System
• Steam Dump System (Ongoing)
• Local Control Room System (Ongoing)
• Demineralized Water Treatment System (Installation of DCS)

[ 01/01/2018 – 01/02/2018 ]
Installation of OverSpeed Modules for Turbine in DEH Three overspeed modules were installed for actuating
turbine trip in case of overspeed. Median output selection strategy was employed for tripping turbine in case of
elevated overspeed actuation.

[ 14/10/2019 – 09/05/2020 ]
Installation of Dual LVDTs on Governor Valves Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs) are used for
position feedback of governor valves. The failure of an LVDT results in feedback loss and abnormal governor
valve behavior (hunting and full opening) that may lead to turbine tripping. To mitigate the effect of single LVDT

failure, dual LVDTs were installed on each of the governor valve. An algorithm was also coded to select from the
value of these LVDTs. Further, calibration with in the required tolerance band was done so that both LVDTs can
behave redundantly and increase plant reliability.

[ 03/05/2021 – 07/06/2022 ]
Installation of Seismic Instrumentation Sensors Seismic instrumentation sensors from Syscom were installed.
The motion recorder (MR2002) was configured and communication with Network Control Center (NCC) was
established. The logic for actuating seismic trigger based on the inputs from individual sensors was configured
and testing was done successfully.

[ 15/06/2023 – Current ]
Installation of Historian and Operator Station for Steam Dump System The steam dump system uses infi90
distributed control system for controlling opening and closing of dump and spray valves. The system used SAC
controllers for taking inputs from the operator. An operator station will be installed that replaces the SAC
controllers and provides an HMI for monitoring the process. A historian will also be installed to analyze data of
important parameters and gain insight about the events.

[ 01/02/2023 – 04/03/2023 ]
Provision of Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation Parameter to Plant Computer System Turbine
supervisory instrumentation acquires various turbine parameters and in case of abnormalities trips the turbine
to prevent damage. These parameters were interfaced to plant computer system using Modbus protocol so that
their history could be maintained.
