1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 WHAT IS A LIBRARIAN?
Before the internet, libraries were community research hubs. Today, a librarian's
primary role is researching and organizing information, but they also require a strong
technical background. Learn about their roles, responsibilities, specializations, qualifications,
and other important information to help you hire a librarian, including their specializations
and qualifications. A librarian, as per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, assists individuals in
locating data for personal or professional use, typically working full-time at government,
educational, or public libraries. Their primary objective is to assist in finding information in
various formats.
1. 2 WHAT IS MUSEUM?
A museum is a not-for-profit institution that concern and manage tangible and
intangible heritage. Other than that, museum cares for and displays a collection of artifacts
and other objects of artistic, cultural, historical, or scientific importance. The purpose of
modern museums is to collect, preserve, interpret, and display objects of artistic, cultural, or
scientific significance for the study and education of the public. Open to the public,
accessible and inclusive, museums foster diversity and sustainability. On the other hand,
they operate and communicate ethically, professionally and with the participation of
communities, offering varied experiences for education, enjoyment, reflection, and
knowledge sharing. However, museums have been founded for a variety of purposes to
serve as recreational facilities, scholarly venues, or educational resources to contribute to
the quality of life of the areas where they are situated to attract tourism to a region to
promote civic pride or nationalistic endeavour or even to transmit overtly ideological
concepts.

2.0 LIBRARIANS
2.1 IMPORTANT OF LIBRARIAN
School librarians, also known as library media specialists, are crucial members of the
school community. (Erin Wilkey oh, 2019, p.1) .They perform a variety of duties and are
passionate educators. They deserve more than just praise for their work. A list of their
essential roles is provided, but this is just a start. They play a vital role in supporting students
and schools. School cost-cutting measures often prioritize "extras" that are enriching but not
necessary. Books are considered necessary, but their caretakers are often overlooked.
Librarians play a crucial role in finding the best resources to achieve goals, especially in
today's abundance of written material.
Are the reasons why librarians are more important than ever. Frist, librarians know to
teach. The library media specialist is often the primary tech expert in schools, providing
guidance on various tech aspects such as projector usage, text annotation apps, and phone
setup. Secondly, librarians keep us honest. In the age of fake news and viral video remixes,
the library media specialist leads the charge on citation, copyright and fair use, research,
and news literacy. Whether the information is online, in reference books, or in the stacks,
librarians know where to look. They keep up with the latest publications and are familiar with
all types of databases. If they don’t have the answer right away, they know where to find it.
Thirdly, librarians engage readers of all ages and levels. Author visits are a popular and
effective way to motivate students to read and write. Librarians use their knowledge to find
the best match for their school. Another popular program is "Reading Night," which includes
read-alouds, guest readers, and hands-on activities. The school librarian plans these events,
ensuring a positive learning environment for all.
Lastly, librarians foster healthy competition through reading. Schools often host
"bowl-style" events where teams read books and answer questions about them. Librarians
organize teams, recruit coaches, and ensure books are accessible. Reading Olympics and
Young Readers Awards encourage students to read, quiz them on comprehension and
memory skills, and promote cooperative teamwork. The reading is now a solitary activity,
promoting success through cooperative reading.
2
2.2 ROLES OF A LIBRARIAN
The purpose of the roles is to conceptua (Force, 2017, p. 2) .The purpose of the roles
is to conceptualize and describe the broad nature and variety of the work that teaching
librarians undertake, as well as the related characteristics that enable librarians to thrive
within those roles. These seven roles, which can and do overlap, are intended to help
librarians situate our individual work experiences within the broader work of academic
libraries and within academic communities, as well as suggest creative new areas for
expansion. The roles are also intended to assist in naming and situating some of the more
abstract and unique situations in which librarians find themselves.
In this way, the document is purposefully broad and encompassing. Just as the
Framework is not intended to require librarians to touch upon every frame in every
instructional situation, we did not intend that every teaching librarian would or should be
working in every role described in the document. We anticipate that many librarians may find
themselves identifying more strongly with certain roles than others based upon their
positions, institutional contexts, and other factors. Examples of roles for instruction librarians
are teaching partner, advocate, coordinator, leader, teacher, instructional designer, and lifelong
learner.
Last but not least, specific duties vary greatly depending on the size and type of
library (Adeel haider joyia, 2019 , p.13) . Most librarians spend their time working in one of
the following areas of a library: Examples of positions and duties roles for archivists can be
specialized librarians who deal with archival materials, such as manuscripts, documents, or
records, though this varies from country to country and there are routes to the archival
profession. Besides collection development or acquisitions, librarians monitor the selection
of books and electronic resources. Next, electronic resources librarians manage the
databases that libraries license from third-party vendors. Other than that, teachers perform
duties as teachers, information technology specialists, and advocates for literacy.
3
2.3 RESPONSIBILITIES LIBRARIAN
The library is responsible for providing information services, ensuring access to library
materials and resources, and responding to information requests promptly. They can run
bibliographic searches, help users in finding materials and information, guide them on
internet resources, and train them in information discovery and management. They also
provide quick and reliable answers to information requests using appropriate sources.
promote awareness of research resources, library services and learning opportunities.
Next, technical services. The library is responsible for obtaining and classifying library
resources, developing computer storage and information retrieval systems, and maintaining
library collections. They select, order, and catalog related publications and multimedia,
maintain up-to-date lists of materials, conduct in-depth research, produce abstracts and
reports, stay up-to-date with trends, and maintain solid lists through reviewing publications,
attending professional events, and receiving supplier training.
Lastly, administration services. Library staff manages library management, sets policies,
prepares budgets, determines cost-effective search methods, ins records, and provides
statistical reports. They also maintain relationships with external entities, such as suppliers,
and ensure compliance with laws and regulations, including copyright, regarding the use of
library materials and resources. ( Azura Abdul Jamil @ Kamarudzzaman, 2022)
4
2.4 KEY SKILLS AND SOFT SKILLS
Firstly, key skills the required skills include information technology, management skills,
analytical abilities, research competencies, public relations expertise, and communication
skills. For examples, see organization. The library is responsible for organizing a variety of
materials, such as books, films, reference sheets, CDs, tapes, magazines, and newspapers.
Their organizational skills involve patience, critical thinking, and attention to detail, ensuring
up-to-date library catalogs.
Next is critical thinking. Library staff use critical thinking to deal with daily requests, such
as solving complex patron requests or researching problems, and to solve projects or
challenges, like deciding which books to remove from circulation, which require thoughtful
analysis and creative solutions. The last example of a key skill is information curation. A
library has basic research skills and can help guides find accurate and up-to-date
information about a complex book or subject. They value providing brilliant information and
educating the community, often helping in this type of research.
Secondly, soft skills Individuals have strong teamwork skills, critical thinking, multitasking
ability, a patient and friendly personality, adaptability, flexibility, and a customer service
orientation. For example, communication Effective communication skills are essential for
librarians to provide excellent customer service to library visitors, students, and event
participants. These skills enable them to provide relevant information, listen to feedback, and
evaluate suggestions, making them an asset to be included in a library CV.
Lastly, interpersonal skills Interpersonal skills are crucial for librarians to interact effectively
with visitors, other libraries, and professionals in the library environment. They help solve
problems and set group goals, such as working with event organizers or guests to prepare
story sessions, events, or displays. (Amber Krosel, February 4,2023, p, 3 ) .

3.0 MUSEUM
3.1 COLLECTIONS OF MUSEUMS
Museums have a lot of collection that we can get from there. This can help users to
find information that they need. First, the collection of paintings. Painting is an important form
of visual art, bringing in elements such as drawing, composition, gesture, narration, and
abstraction. Paintings collection is important because it is to preserve knowledge and to
influence the way we write, understand and spread the history. For instance, self-expression
and awareness: Art provides a platform to voice our feelings, thoughts, and identities.
Contemplation and Reflection. Through art, we can introspect and ponder life's mysteries.
Entertainment and Joy: Beyond its deeper meanings, art can also be sheer fun and
enjoyment.
Meanwhile, another collection is furniture. Furniture refers to objects intended to
support various human activities like seating such as stools, chairs, and sofa. Other than
that, eating (tables), storing items, working, and sleeping like beds and hammocks. For
example, furniture includes objects such as tables, chairs, beds, desks, dressers, and
cupboards.
Next, collection that we can find in museum is paper. Paper is raw materials of the
highest purity and utilisation of fresh fibres and natural carbonate. For example, manuscripts,
documents, photographs, prints, drawings and posters. When we enter the museum, we can
see a lot of paper collections appear everywhere that explain about the history in there.
In addition, museum also have collection like textiles. Textiles are created by
processing, weaving or knitting these materials. These can create typically manufactured
goods, such as clothing, accessories, gloves, hats, and blankets, or any type of plastic,
industrial, natural fur, agricultural or medical fabric. (Eden Gallery, Mar 01, 2022)
3.2 WHAT ARE THE BEST JOBS AT MUSEUM?
If you are interested in working in a museum, you can find a variety of jobs there. There are
five popular jobs in the museum which are Curator, Archivist, Guide, Mission Director and
Volunteer.
First of all, museum's collection may need to be maintained entirely or in part by
curators. They can choose what to store and what to display, sell or buy new items, and
6
establish the mood of the museum by choosing various exhibition themes and designs. In
addition to maybe helping with marketing and PR, curators need to be extremely
knowledgeable in their field.
Secondly, docs, files, and other artifacts are maintained and preserved with
assistance from archivists. They might employ various methods, such restoration, or store
the artifacts in humidified rooms or dedicated storage vaults. Archivists frequently work with
delicate papers or artwork, assessing their quality and appropriateness for display.
Spreadsheets and other organizing tools are used by archivists in the management of
archives.
Other than that, the best jobs at museum is tour guide. The primary objective of a
museum, which is to educate, is frequently best expressed by its tour guides. They give
guided tours of museums, respond to inquiries, and impart detailed information on artifacts,
historical eras, and current exhibitions. In order to respond to inquiries from guests and
provide a wealth of knowledge, tour guides need to be excellent communicators and
information retainers.
Besides, the public and museums are connected by outreach directors. These
experts frequently have a significant impact on a museum's ability to secure funds and
support in general. Outreach directors have the option of sending museum representatives
to the schools or setting up school excursions. In addition, they might arrange fundraising
activities or meet with prospective contributors to persuade them of the value of their
organization.
Lastly, in museums, volunteers do a wide range of tasks. They can work as docents
and tour guides, meet guests at tourist centers, assist with maintenance, or host educational
exhibitions. Volunteers are essential to many museums, and they frequently receive benefits
like free parking and free admission to local special exhibitions. (Maryville University, 2023)
3.3 BASIC TYPES OF MUSEUMS
Sometimes museums are classified according to the source of their funding.
However, it fails to indicate the true character of the museum’s collections. For example,
institutions funded by the national government, such as National Museums that may hold
outstanding international collections. On top of that, there are several types of museums.
First and foremost is General Museums being hold collections in more than one
subject and are therefore sometimes known as multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary museums
7
(Britannica,2023). Sometimes special exhibitions prepared by the national museum or other
agencies provide opportunities at regional museums for the community to appreciate the
wider aspects of the national or even international heritage.
Secondly is Museums of Natural History And Natural Science. For instance, the
museums are concerned with the natural world as shown by their collections may contain
specimens of birds, plants, rocks, minerals, and fossils. Some established programs for
recording biological data for the area they serve to facilitate environmental planning.
Thirdly, the Science and Technology Museum is a museum devoted to applied
science and technological developments. Such as astronomy, planets and aerospace. In
addition, these museums are often sponsored directly or indirectly by industries. Other
museums highlight a specific product resulting from the application of science and
technology. Next, History Museums show objects relating to the history of a place. Another
point is that museums dealing with specialized aspects of history may be found at the
national or local level, while museums of general history are rare at the national level.
Last but not least, an Art Museum or Art Gallery is a building or space for the display
of art, usually from the museum's own collection. It might be in public or private ownership
and may be accessible to all or have restrictions in place. Although primarily concerned with
visual art, museums are often used as a venue for other cultural exchanges and artistic
activities, such as performance arts, music concerts, or poetry reading.
3.4 IMPORTANT OF THE MUSEUM
Museums provide informative and visual explorations. Museums are buildings in
which we see many things of artistic, cultural, historical, traditional and scientific interest. It is
a great source of knowledge. It not only gives us knowledge but also makes us familiar with
the history, culture, civilization, religion and art architecture of our country. Next, it's become
a place to meet new people. For example, museums are social places because they are
designed to be places where people can come together and share an experience.
(Simon,2022)
Thirdly, museums educate people about people, about how people of the past
reacted to their environment and about the effects of those reactions on our past, present,
and future. For instance, museums can provide an insight into the history of humankind And
while no museum can claim to provide a complete picture, the lessons we can learn from the
past events, wonders and tragedies are priceless (Richardson.J, 2023).
8
Last but not least, museums provide enjoyment of art and culture, as shown by the
fact that visiting art galleries can make the visitor happier, increase their level of creativity,
and even improve their emotional intelligence. Nevertheless, it can also give you a chance to
see historical works as well as new pieces by talented artists all over the world.
(Marshall,2013)

CONCLUSION
Librarians are essential information professionals who play a vital role in today's
knowledge-driven society. Their contributions extend far beyond the stereotypical image of a
person who merely catalogs and lends books. School librarians, also known as library media
specialists, are essential members of the school community who play a vital role in supporting
students and schools. They are knowledgeable in teaching technology, keeping students
honest in their research, and engaging readers of all ages and levels. Additionally, they foster
healthy competition through reading, making them more important than ever in today's
abundance of written material. In addition to their role in supporting students and schools,
school librarians also collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy skills into the
curriculum. They help students develop critical thinking skills and become discerning
consumers of information in the digital age. Furthermore, school librarians often organize
author visits, book clubs, and other literary events to create a vibrant reading culture within
the school community.
Museums are not just repositories of objects; they are dynamic institutions that play a
pivotal role in education, culture, and the preservation of our collective heritage. They
contribute to the enrichment of society by providing opportunities for learning, inspiration, and
a deeper understanding of our world and its history. Museums continue to adapt to the
changing needs of the public, making them relevant and essential components of our cultural
landscape. The text discusses the collections, types, and importance of museums. Museums
hold various collections such as paintings, furniture, paper, and textiles, and offer a range of
jobs such as curators, archivists, guides, mission directors, and volunteers. Different types of
museums include general museums, museums of natural history and natural science, science
and technology museums, history museums, and art museums. Museums provide informative
and visual explorations, educate people about the past, and offer enjoyment of art and culture.
