Information about installing the language pack
• For Windows platforms, see the Workforce Central Installation Guide or the Workforce Central Upgrade Guide.
• For Unix platforms, see the Workforce Central Unix/Linux Installation and Upgrade Guide. The documentation is
available on the Workforce Central documentation DVD.
• The installation of Workforce Central 8.0.6 installs English language files. If you need any of the following
languages, you must install the language pack:
• The language pack contains a set of language files that are available for translated products. The language pack
installation program can install one or more of these languages.
• Languages are installed onto a server once. After they are installed, you must configure each instance individually.
The Configuration Manager program enables you to select one or more languages to deploy to an instance. If you
deploy multiple languages to an instance, you can also set the locale policy so that users can select a language
when they log in. To do this:
a. Open Setup > System Configuration > Locale Policy.
b. Select the “All” filter.
c. Select the “Active” option to activate the locale policy for each language you want to use.
d. Select the “Display on Login Page” option for each language selection you want to display on the logon page.
• To configure the default language of the instance:
a. Open Setup > System Settings > Locale.
b. Select a language from the drop-down list for the following settings:
site.local.language
site.local.currency.language
Note: The language you select must already be installed from the language pack and configured on the
instance.
c. Restart Workforce Central.
d. Log on to Workforce Central without selecting a language on the logon page.
e. Verify that the application displays in the default language you configured.
• Settings such as language and country, date and time formats, or display themes, are not modified when the
language is deployed. After the installation of the language, you must configure the Locale system settings to
display date, time, number, and currency formats.
7
Mapping the Taiwan locale to Traditional Chinese language files
• Note the following information about Kronos InTouch and Series 4000 device language support:
– System administrators configure which language appears at each data collection device using Workforce
Central (Setup > Device Manager Setup > General Device Settings). Administrators do not need to install
the language pack on the Workforce Central server to select and configure the language display at the data
collection devices.
– Series 4000 devices must have the appropriate firmware version and font packages loaded to provide the
desired language translation. See “Series 4000 devices” on page 5.
1. Ensure that the locale setting is set to Taiwan. The locale setting is called site.local.COUNTRY and is located in
Setup > System Configuration > System Settings > Locale.
2. Open custom_wpk.properties located in the following directory:
<Kronos_install_dir>\<instance>\applications\wpk\properties
3. Add the following property to the file:
resource.locale.mappings=zh_TW#zh_HK.
4. Save custom_wpk.properties.
5. Open ProduceRDLC2010Report.exe.config located in the following directory:
<Kronos_install_dir>\<instance>\reporting\Kronos.Reporting
6. Add the following entry to the file:
<add key="ResourceLocaleMappings" value="zh-TW#zh-HK" />
This entry allows RDL reports to load the Traditional Chinese language strings.
7. Restart the Workforce Central server and the Microsoft Reporting server.
