ABSTRACT:.Green Economy or green economy is an economic idea that aims to

improve the welfare and social equality of the community, while reducing the
risk of environmental damage significantly. So far, the economic aspect is more
dominant than the environmental aspect so that environmental sustainability is
not maintained and produces negative effects/externalities that can harm
residents in the surrounding environment. Environmental damage is a full
concern for economists, giving rise to the concept of a green economy or better
known as a green economy.

INTRODUCTION
This service carries the title of optimizing the green economy of the people
of Gadingharjo, Donotirto, Kretek villages in the success of the Bantul clean waste
movement in 2025 (Bantul Bersama). Green Economy or green economy is an
economic idea that aims to improve the welfare and social equality of the
community, while reducing the risk of environmental damage significantly. So
far, the economic aspect is more dominant than the environmental aspect so that
environmental sustainability is not maintained and produces negative
effects/externalities that can harm residents in the surrounding environment.
Environmental damage is a full concern for economists, giving rise to the concept
of a green economy or better known as a green economy.
Based on the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of
Indonesia, this green economy can also be interpreted as an economy that is low
or does not produce carbon dioxide emissions to the environment, saves natural
resources and is socially equitable. Optimizing the application of the green
economy can be done through the smallest environment, such as households.
Households in a circular economy play a very important role, including the
implementation of a green economy. The output of this service is in the form of
scientific articles sent to journals and seminars. Other expected outcomes are
articles in the mass media and the ability of partners to be more empowered.
Optimizing the application of the green economy can be done through the
smallest environment, such as households. Households in a circular economy
play a very important role, including the implementation of a green economy.
The role of households in the green economy considering that in Jakarta the
average individual waste produced is 1 kg. With a population of more than 220
million people in Indonesia, it can produce 220 million kg of waste every day.
This can produce carbon dioxide emissions to the environment that can disrupt
the welfare of the community. Service activities were carried out in Gadingharjo,
Donotirto, Kretek, Bantul Regency. The selection of the object of service is based
on that the village a) is a village that supports tourism activities on Parangtritis
Beach; b) areas which are densely populated; c) villagers have a home industry;
d) the success of Perbup Number 156 of 2018 concerning Regional Policies and
Strategies for the Management of Household Waste and Types of Household
Waste in Bantul Regency and Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2021 concerning
RPJMD of Bantul Regency in 2021-2026; and e) the success of the BANTUL
BERSAMA movement, namely the Bantul Clean Garbage movement in 2025. By
looking at the current opportunities, the team will carry out community service
activities to socialize and practice as an effort to optimize the green economy
through households in Gadingharjo Hamlet to make the Bantul Clean Movement
a success. Waste Year 2025.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Indonesia is one of the countries affected by the presence of Covid-19. The
Indonesian government itself has given appeals to the community in overcoming
this epidemic so that it runs effectively and efficiently (Buana, 2017). The COVID-
19 pandemic has not only had a significant impact on increasing the volume of
waste. The increase in the volume of waste has occurred massively throughout
Indonesia, including in Bantul Regency, this can be seen from the prediction from
the DIY Provincial Environmental Service which stated that the landfill in
Piyungan could stop operating in 2022 because the level of waste volume was
very worrying.
The volume of regency/city waste in 2021 entering the Piyungan TPA is
800 tons/day. The volume of Bantul Regency waste that goes to the Piyungan
TPA is 180 tons/day. Based on Law No. 18 of 2008 concerning Waste
Management that waste is a shared responsibility, both the government and the
community, everyone in the management of household waste and waste similar
to household waste is obliged to reduce and handle waste in an environmentally
sound manner. Poor waste management can result in:

1. Health impacts, Potential to cause health hazards, such as: Diarrhea,

typhoid, cholera, fungal diseases, intestinal worms, etc.
2. Environmental Impact, potentially causing flooding. In addition, liquid
waste that is around waterways will cause unpleasant odors.
3. Socio-Economic Impacts, increasing health costs due to disease, Unclean
environmental conditions due to improper waste handling. This will
ultimately have an impact on the social life of society as a whole.
Therefore, providing counseling to the people of Gadingharjo, Donotirto,
Kretek villages can increase awareness to reduce the volume of waste through
households and to make the Bantul clean waste movement a success in 2025
(Bantul Bersama). Overall, the implementation of the activity went smoothly,
all participants actively participated in the counseling and were eager to start
changing their behavior to be more useful. The type of counseling carried out is
quite easy to understand by the village community with the target of PKK
women, so that it can be accepted and carried out in their daily lives.
This community service activity was carried out on March 19, 2022 with
participants from the village area of Gadingharjo, Donotirto, Kretek, Bantul.
The implementation of the activity is counseling on Optimizing the green
economy of the people of Gadingharjo, Donotirto, Kretek villages in the success
of the Bantul clean-waste movement in 2025 (Bantul Bersama).
No one thought that the Covid-19 pandemic would lead to the threat of a
multidimensional crisis. Problems that originate in the health sector extend to
environmental conditions. There is no choice, but to move together to anticipate
the impacts arising from the pandemic. The impact that appears on the
environment is none other than a drastic increase in the volume of waste, changes
in consumption patterns during the pandemic and the use of disposable masks
encourages an increase in the volume of waste. Counseling also emphasizes the
decomposition of organic and non-organic waste, this is done because the
handling of the two wastes is different. The presentation of the material was also
emphasized on sorting waste and reusable items such as old clothes that can be
used for floor mops, bottles or cans that can be used as flower pots, etc. The
community participated in the extension activities enthusiastically, this was
evidenced by the emergence of questions from participants regarding the
extension material.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Community service activities in Gadingharjo, Donotirto, Kretek can run
well and smoothly of course by adhering to health protocols. Participants are
enthusiastic and can work well together. The method used is very effective. It is
hoped that there will be an increase in public knowledge regarding waste
management. Suggestions that can be given to the community are to always pay
special attention to handling waste by sorting waste through households, being

wise in using items that have been used. Both of these can significantly reduce
the volume of waste through households.
