Halloween
People usually celebrate Halloween on the thirty-fist of October. It’s interesting and
fun.
Some people think that the name of the holidays comes from the word “hell” but it’s
not true. Earlier it was known as All Hallows Eve which later was transformed into
“Halloween”.
Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving
jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats.
Children like wearing costumes a lot. Which costumes are the most popular? Girls
usually prefer costumes of witches while boys choose vampires and zombies. But what
do these costumes mean? The tradition comes from the ancient times when Celts were
afraid of the ghosts coming to the Earth, so they wore ghost costumes and thoughtany
ghosts they met would think they were ghosts too and would leave them alone.
However today wearing costumes is just a fun and children do that for entertainment.
