Course Outline: Barista NC II
Course Overview
The Barista NC II program is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills to work
as a barista in coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants. This program covers the core
competencies required for preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages, as well as
maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
Core Competencies
1. Prepare Coffee and Espresso Drinks
o Using espresso machines to extract espresso shots
o Preparing various coffee drinks (e.g., cappuccino, latte, Americano)
o Steaming milk to the desired texture and temperature
o Creating latte art and other decorative coffee designs
2. Prepare Non-Coffee Beverages
o Preparing tea, hot chocolate, and other non-coffee beverages
o Using teapots, kettles, and other equipment
o Customizing beverages to meet customer preferences
3. Maintain Barista Station and Equipment
o Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work surfaces
o Maintaining stock levels of coffee beans, milk, and other supplies
o Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions
4. Provide Excellent Customer Service
o Greeting customers warmly and professionally
o Taking orders accurately and efficiently
o Providing product recommendations and suggestions
o Handling customer complaints and resolving issues
