Good morning. Shall we begin ladies and gentlemen? My name is Jeffrey
and today the title of the topic that I would like to share with you is about
“food”. In the old day, food is just a material for living thing to sustain its
growth nor to survive. Now we had created and polish food into something
that’s beyond its own value. So that’s why today I would like to share with you
how food sparks a chef’s life. Come to think of it have you ever wonder how a
chef started his career as a chef? What grabs their attention and motivation to
walk this path? If I would have to answer that, I would say passion. Passion is
the key and dedication is what brings you there.
Ok, so why do I say that food sparks a chef life? There are many chefs
out there did not start their career as a chef in the first place. Such as, Anthony
Bourdain was a happy dish washer, Jamie Oliver who study Art and Geology in
his early life, Gordon Ramsay set his first sight on a professional sports career.
They did not start loving cooking until they met someone or something in their
life. Career as a chef is not easy or hard, it is all depend on the one who is
cooking. Raw food looks dull and it doesn’t bring out the excitement, and this is
where our chef stands out and shine their skills transforming these food into
delicacy.
Therefore, I would like to talk about one chef that brought the passion of
cooking into my life. He inspired me with his style of cooking by perfecting
every dish he could make. He is a Scottish celebrity chef, and he had a 3
Michelin star in his first restaurant. Ok, for those who never heard of Michelin
star before, here’s a quick fact about what is Michelin star stand for. We know
that the name Michelin came from a tyre brand and It all started when the
Michelin brother made up a guide book to hotel advertising and finally the
categorise to rate restaurant. In 1936, They had three-star criteria to rate
restaurant, 1Michelin star is classified as “A very good restaurant in its
category”, as for 2 Michelin stars mean “excellent cooking, worth a detour”, 3
Michelin stars mean “exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey”.
So now you have a better understanding on Michelin star, the person I’m
talking about had own total of 16 Michelin star in his restaurant and bar. Yes,
he’s Gordan Ramsay. He’s the man who inspired me into cooking. I started
cooking as my hobby since 2015. I been learning and practicing his cooking
technique and skills till now. Ok, we don’t talk about me, let’s talk more about
Gordon Ramsay. What is his one best signature dish? I would say Beef
Wellington, If I had the projector I can show you the ideal of this dish. Beef
wellington is a fillet steak coated with duck liver and duxelles (a type of
mushroom) and then wrapped in puff pastry. And when you cut it open the
aroma smell which are trap in the pastry burst across the air, the juicy and
tender beef made the dish even mouth-watering.
Besides that, as we know he is a celebrity chef. So, he does appear on
television shows many times, there are some famous T.V. shows such as Hell’s
kitchen, MasterChef, Kitchen Nightmare, Hotel Hell and MasterChef Junior. I
personally like MasterChef a lot because they always have the unique cooking
ingredient for the challenger. To be a true master chef is that you need to use
any type of ingredient and transform them into delicacy. And there will be three
judges to conclude the food.
Moreover, this had concluded that how food sparks a chef’s life. Passion
is not something that will appear, passion is something that you determine to
seek for. As a chef we must be able to overcome any hard situation and be
patient. This comes with a quote, “Don’t let the ingredients conquer you
because you are the one holding the knife.
