Construction

Step 1 - Print out the pattern piece and tape it together.

Cut out your desired fabric, make sure you have prewashed
your fabric to prevent shrinkage.

Step 2 - Fold the strap in half with right sides together and sew along the
edge and top using a 1cm seam allowance. Turn to the right side and press.
Repeat for the other straps.

Step 3 - Place the front bodice 1 and 2 on top of each other with
right sides together at the side seam. Pin and sew using a 1cm seam
allowance. Then place front bodice 3 on top of front bodice 2 and sew
again using a 1cm seam allowance.
Step 4 - Now sew the back panel to front bodice 3 with right sides together
and using a 1cm seam allowance. Repeat steps 3 and 4 again for the other
side.

Step 5 - Now complete steps 3 and 4 again for the lining fabric.
Step 6 - Place two straps at the back neckline notch and baste in place.
Then place the lining on top of the main fabric of the bodice with right sides
together. Sew along the whole neckline. Pull out to the right side and press
along the neckline.

Step 7 - Make panels by sewing two parallel stitches at either end of the
seams. You can sew through both the lining and main fabric of the bodice
when sewing these lines.
Step 8 - Place one strap in between two cup pieces with right sides
together. Sew along the cup but leave a gap at the bottom to be able to
pull out to the right side. Once sewn, pull the cup to the right side and press.

Step 9 - Sew a line of gathering stitches along the bottom of the cup.
Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the other cup.
Step 10 - Place one cup underneath the bodice and gather to fit the curve.
The right side of the cup will be placed underneath the bodice and touching
the lining side. Pin along the cup, check the fit and adjust accordingly. Then
sew using a 1cm seam allowance. Repeat for the other side.

Step 11 - Cut the boning so it’s slightly shorter than the hem of the top and
insert it into the panels we made earlier. Once you’ve completed all the
seams, use bias binding to finish the raw edge of the hem of the top or
simply turn the hem up once towards the wrong side and stitch along.
Step 12 - Separate your zipper and pin both sides to the centre back
with the right side of the zip facing the right side of the top. Make sure
the zipper teeth are facing away from the centre back. Also make sure the
end of the zipper is aligned to the hem of the top and the zipper stopper is
aligned with the neckline of the back. Sew with a 1cm seam allowance.

Step 13 - Fold the back seam towards the inside and topstitch the zipper down
to secure all the layers together. You can also hand sew the leftover zipper
top to the neckline by folding it down and using a needle. Zip up the top.
