The Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) model aims to address the quality and ecological
needs of domestic and overseas customers, society, employees, partners,
regulators, and investors. The Zero defect segment of the ZED concept focuses on
customer (via zero non compliance and zero waste) whereas the Zero effect
segment of the ZED concept focuses on society (via zero wastage of natural
resources and zero air pollution/liquid discharge).

12.00 – 1.00 PM Session 2- “Reducing Cost of Poor Quality”

The Indian systems, processes, and products should be of such a quality that the
cost of poor quality disappears from manufacturing. The cost of poor quality
(CoPQ) helps companies analyze traditionally measured quality costs. These
include scrap, rework, and returned materials. The importance of quality can be
well appreciated by talking in terms of such costs incurred by a firm producing
defective products.

2:00- 3:00 PM Session 3- “New Technologies for Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing”

New technologies in Industry 4.0 and Sustainability are shaping future of


manufacturing. Industry 4.0 technologies are believed to provide large scale
benefits in terms of efficiency and operations. A circular economy is presented as
a system of resource utilization where reduction, reuse and recycling of elements
prevails. Also, Companies that have implemented this system have proved that
reusing resources is much more cost effective than creating them from scratch.

All these technologies result in lowering of production price and sale price, thereby
benefiting the consumer; not only economically, but also in social and
environmental aspects. The session would be therefore focusing on the three basic
components of Sustainability - Environmental Conservation, Social Responsibility
and Economic Development.
