International Humanitarian Law

- What were some successful prosecutions of war crimes? What made them successful?
How can these be expanded on?
- What is the process for investigating war crimes? Who is responsible for carrying out
these investigations? How does the process work?
- When war crimes have been successfully prosecuted what do the consequences look
like?
- What organizations are responsible for monitoring international humanitarian law? What
do they do?
- When war crimes have occurred what is done in the aftermath to address the harm that
was caused? Is there a process or is this done on a case by case basis?

Freedom of Speech vs. Freedom of Association


- What supreme court cases have there been on this topic? What has the court decided in
these cases?
- To what degree are companies allowed to monitor / investigate your private activities or
views?
- Are there laws regulating social media and employment? If so what do they say?
- How are existing employment laws regarding freedom of speech enforced?
- What does an employer need to do to fire someone legally? When can an employer
legally fire you for your beliefs?
- “At Will” Employment - What is it and what are its limitations? How many employees are
at will employees?
- What are current laws regarding public vs. private speech? How do privacy rights protect
your rights to expression in the workplace?

Rights of the Incarcerated


- How are prison systems different in different states or countries? Who is doing this
process relatively better? How can we emulate it?
- What are education/rehabilitation opportunities like for incarcerated people? Do they
have a right to education or rehabilitation programs?
- What are protected rights for trans people who are incarcerated?
- What is the scale of prisoner rights abuses? How many prisoners have their rights
violated?
- How do incarcerated people report if they think their rights are being violated? What is
the process for investigating rights violations?
- How are prisoners informed about their rights when they are incarcerated?
- What efforts are being made to improve healthcare in the prison system today? What are
the current problems in the prison healthcare system?
- How are people changed by being incarcerated?
