Part I
1. Social networks have transformed marketing, and their popularity continues to grow. With
billions of users worldwide, people engage with an average of 6.6 different social networks
each month, spending an average of 2 hours and 24 minutes daily. A significant issue that
needs attention is teenagers' uncontrolled use of social media. Excessive time spent online can
expose them to harmful content, negatively impacting their mental health by increasing
anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and feelings of loneliness. Furthermore, content
promoting cyberbullying and rumor-spreading can worsen these issues, contributing to a
negative body image and a sense of being ignored. Additionally, teenagers are at risk of
developing Text Neck Syndrome, leading to headaches, dizziness, and acute neck pain. The
problem is not limited to teens; many university students also suffer from neck or back pain,
which can significantly reduce their productivity. These physical ailments underscore the
broader impact of excessive screen time on overall well-being.
You are the Head of the Education Department at the Council of Educators, UAE. Recently,
the Executive Director of the Council received a letter signed by leading health professionals
citing concerns related to students’ physical and mental health due to excessive use of social
media. The Executive Director has asked you to survey the students across diverse educational
institutions in the UAE to investigate students' mental and physical health issues and present
the findings along with suitable recommendations in a report. Write only an Introduction (with
subsections) for the investigative report. The major findings of the report are listed below.
