Social influence on technological development

Many of the connections we build with people through the internet have a very different quality
to them – there is an ease with which we can filter our lives and experiences on social media
by posting only our most attractive photos, most interesting and impressive experiences and
our wittiest thoughts. Through Facebook messenger stickers and emoticons we can now have
an entire digital conversation without writing many words at all. Whilst we may be happier
with the image others are receiving of us, the person they are getting to know is a less authentic
version. The person people know through the internet may not truly be us.
Awareness of this interaction is considered important in a technology development survey of
its success in society. For this concept, there are three points that must exist in the social role
of the development of technological innovation

First, social must be developed or society will not be ready for technology. Some of the
technologies that may be needed are better cutting tools, machine replacement for factory
workers, or new sources of energy. The technology needed can also come from the military
such as new weapons. In the modern world, offers technology that can be disseminated through
social media. Needs, the most important is how the technology can steal the attention and meet
market needs. Second, the availability of resources. Many findings were not developed due to
limited resources. Availability of resources is very important for productivity because it is able
to direct finances in a more structured manner. Resources such as plastics, textiles or other
materials needed in the manufacture of a prototype are indispensable in technology
development. In addition, human resources are also an important resource and cannot be
separated from technological progress. Third, work ethic. An environment that supports the
emergence of ideas will greatly support technological progress. Many things that really need
innovation, such as the development of weapons of war, the development of navigation tools
or also the development of industrial tools. Whatever the object, even if it is innovated by a
genius, improvisation of a product is very important in technology development.
In other word. Social media has also affected our relationships because, by increasing the
immediacy of communication, it has decreased our need for commitment. Gone are the days
of landline phones, where a time and location are set well in advance, plans are made to
facilitate being able to attend the meeting and apologies are profuse if non-attendance occurs.
Now, meeting times and places may not be decided until the last minute through a group chat,
and ‘Maybe’ is an acceptable RSVP option until an hour after the event started, at which point
you are five episodes into the latest series of ‘House of Cards’ and you really just want to know
what happens next… ‘I’m too lazy to get ready now’ might be a common reaction. In the end,
this reduces our ability to consider options, make decisions and follow through with
responsibilities.
The other effect of this increase in connectivity and activity is that we are never really alone
and unoccupied anymore – because there is always a new post on Facebook to read, game to
play or TV series to ‘binge watch’, we are easily able to avoid confronting and processing
negative internal experiences, and there is less need to engage in creative thought. This can
play the role of maintaining psychological problems because we can so easily distract
ourselves, avoid addressing the root of the issue and have less activities that leave us feeling
fulfilled and accomplished, because most of our leisure time is spent consuming, rather than
creating.

These all social conditions greatly affect the development of technology. Technology has
developed since millions of years ago and continues to experience changes this technology has
very broad modifications. So technology is often seen as a mystery because the innovation is
so wide that no one will know what a technology will be developed in the future. However,
this speed must be watched out for in relation to the social conditions of the community.
On the other hand, it seems certain that society also rejects the rapid advancement of
technology. Therefore, in the science of technology, there is a so-called background problem
where any existing technology creation is to be built in the future if desired and supported. But
technology should also be treated with caution because otherwise the development of
technology will actually lose backwards if accumulation occurs. Technology will not develop
and will affect other social factors
This new age of technology is an exciting one – there is so much information out there to learn
and apply to our lives. However, it is important to consider the psychological costs of excessive
technology use so that we can implement healthier patterns of device use and social
interactions.
