1. what were Rizal's activity in Dapitan and their impact?
In Dapitan (1892-1896), Rizal worked on several key projects. He set up a school to teach local
children, improved healthcare by starting a small hospital and dispensary, and introduced new
farming techniques. His efforts helped boost education, health, and agriculture in the area.
2. Compare the experience of Rizal as a student in Ateneo, UST, and Madrid.
Ateneo (1872-1877): Rizal excelled here, earning high honors and developing strong leadership skills
in a disciplined environment.
UST (1877-1882): Rizal found it challenging due to its rigid curriculum and conservative teaching
methods, which clashed with his progressive views.
Madrid (1882-1885): Rizal thrived in the more open and modern atmosphere, expanding his
knowledge and embracing new ideas, which influenced his later reforms.
3. How would you assess Rizal's objection to the revolution?
Rizal opposed the revolution because he believed in achieving change through peaceful means. He
worried that a violent uprising would lead to chaos and more suffering, which could derail the
progress he hoped for. His preference was for gradual reform through education and legal changes.
