Zeneth 10.0 | Installation Guide 1.0 | April 2024 3

Prerequisites
This section details the hardware requirements and platforms supported by Zeneth.
Zeneth runs locally on the machine it is installed on. A server framework is not required.

Hardware requirements
The minimum hardware requirements are:
l 10 GB disk space for a new install.
For data security, we strongly recommend installing Zeneth on an encrypted hard drive.
If upgrading from an older version of Zeneth, the minimum disk space is equal to the size of
the lhasafiles directory in the current installation directory (default location C:\Program
Files\Lhasa Limited\Zeneth <Version Number>\application\lhasafiles).
Note: Ensure that there is sufficient disk space available before performing an upgrade.
Insufficient disk space will cause the upgrade to fail and may result in a loss of prediction data.
l 4 GB RAM
l Intel/AMD multi-core processor

Operating systems
The supported client operating systems are:
l Windows 10 (64-bit)
l Windows 11 (64-bit)

Minimum and recommended resolution

Zeneth supports a minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 720. The recommended screen resolution
for Zeneth is 1280 x 1024.
Note: If the machine's display scale is above 100%, the installer interface may not appear as
designed (logo and text placement will be incorrect). This will not affect the actual installation or
usage of Zeneth.

Administrative rights
The Zeneth installation process requires administrative rights. Either log into the operating system as
an administrator before installing, or right-click the installer and use the Run as administrator or
Run as a different user function.
Note: Administrative rights are only required during the installation.

Users
Zeneth is a single user desktop application. There is no built-in user access control.

Zeneth 10.0 | Installation Guide 1.0 | April 2024 4

Previous versions of Zeneth
Running the Zeneth 10 installer on a workstation with an existing Zeneth 9 installation will initiate an
upgrade process. Predictions from Zeneth 9 will be copied to Zeneth 10, and the Zeneth 9 installation
will be removed.
If you have an existing Zeneth 8 installation then any predictions will be lost when upgrading to
Zeneth 10. If you wish to keep your predictions from a Zeneth 8 installation, you should first run the
Zeneth 9 installer to upgrade from Zeneth 8 to Zeneth 9 before running the Zeneth 10 installer.
Zeneth 10 will open predictions from Zeneth 8 or 9 in a read-only state. The prediction results can be
viewed, but settings cannot be changed and the prediction cannot be run again. If a Zeneth 8 or 9
prediction needs to be re-run, the prediction will need to be rebuilt in Zeneth 10.
User default settings in Zeneth 8 or 9 are not carried over to Zeneth 10 as part of the upgrade.
Predictions from Zeneth 7 will not open in Zeneth 8, 9 or 10. If any existing predictions in Zeneth 7 are
still in use, we recommend leaving the Zeneth 7 installation as it is. Zeneth 8, 9 or 10 will run on a
workstation with an existing Zeneth 7 installation with no issues.
If Zeneth 7 is no longer required, it can be uninstalled through Control Panel > Programs and
Features, and by then deleting the Zeneth 7 installation folder (default location
C:\Users\Public\Lhasa Limited\Zeneth 7).
For more information on the upgrade process, see "Upgrading Zeneth" on page 7.

Installing the Zeneth application
Downloading the Zeneth installer
The installation files are located in the download centre:
https://download.lhasalimited.org/
For help logging in, contact the Lhasa Applied Sciences team ([email protected]).

Upgrading Zeneth
An existing Zeneth installation from 8.0 onwards can be upgraded to a newer version without
uninstalling the older version. The upgrade process is the same as the standard installation process.
During an upgrade, the Zeneth licence and all saved predictions are automatically transferred to the
new version of Zeneth.
Note: If an existing Zeneth installation is uninstalled, the saved predictions will be lost and will not be
transferred to the new version of Zeneth. If you want to uninstall the previous version of Zeneth but
save your existing predictions, the predictions must be backed up. For more details on backing up
predictions, contact the Lhasa Applied Sciences team ([email protected]).
Further notes on the upgrade process:
l The upgrades do not need to be installed sequentially - you may upgrade from any version of
Zeneth 8 or Zeneth 9 to Zeneth 10. Note that predictions from Zeneth 8 will not be kept if
upgrading directly to Zeneth 10; if you wish to keep predictions from Zeneth 8, first
upgrade to Zeneth 9 and then upgrade to Zeneth 10.
l Before running the upgrade process, ensure the currently-installed version of Zeneth is
closed.
l For an upgrade, the minimum disk space is equal to the size of the lhasafiles directory in the
current installation directory (default location C:\Program Files\Lhasa Limited\Zeneth
<Version Number>\application\lhasafiles).
l Ensure that there is sufficient disk space available before performing the upgrade. Insufficient
disk space will cause the upgrade to fail and may result in a loss of prediction data.
l The upgrade can be installed in the same directory as the older version of Zeneth. The older
installation files will be overwritten and data transferred to the new version of Zeneth.
l After upgrading to Zeneth 10, the Zeneth 8 or 9 directory is removed. All data is transferred to
the new location.
l During an upgrade, a message may appear stating that a reboot is required. A reboot is not
necessary - you may continue without rebooting.
l If the upgrade needs to be stopped while it is running, use the Cancel button. Closing the
installation window with the X close button, or using any other means to stop the installation,
may result in a loss of prediction data.

Installing Zeneth
1. Extract the files from the ZIP download package.
2. Navigate to the Installer folder and double-click the executable zeneth-<version number>-
windows-installer.exe.

Zeneth 10.0 | Installation Guide 1.0 | April 2024 7

Note: If the logged-in Windows account does not have administrative privileges, right-click the
executable and select Run as Administrator, or hold Shift and right-click and select Run as
a Different User. Enter the Windows Administrator login and run the installer.
3. Follow the installation wizard instructions. Click Next to proceed or Back to return to the
previous page.
l Destination Folder
The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\Lhasa Limited\Zeneth 10\.
Accept the default installation directory or click Change... to specify another location.
Note: The location cannot be changed after installation. Renaming or moving the
Zeneth directory or files will result in errors when using Zeneth. If a Zeneth installation
must be moved to a new location, export the Zeneth data, uninstall the existing Zeneth
installlation and reinstall in the correct location.
l Installation Completion
If the tickbox on the final installation screen is ticked, the application starts immediately
after the wizard is closed. This tickbox is unticked by default.
To close the installation wizard, click Finish.

After installation, you can open the application by either:

l Using the Start Menu > Lhasa Limited > Zeneth 10 icon.
l Double clicking the run.bat file in the installation directory Application folder (default location
C:\Program Files\Lhasa Limited\Zeneth 10\application).

Note: Zeneth may be slow to load for the first time. This is due to post-installation scripts in the
background, including the upgrade process from Zeneth 9 (if applicable). Subsequent instances of
Zeneth will load faster.
If the installation is a new installation (not an upgrade of an older version), Zeneth will need licensing.
Follow the instructions under "Licensing Zeneth" below.

Licensing Zeneth
When running a new installation of Zeneth for the first time, a "No licence installed" message
appears.
The licence key is supplied via email from Lhasa's Applied Sciences team. To enter a licence key
into Zeneth:

1. Click Dismiss to close the "No licence installed" message.

2. Click the Submit licence button.
3. Either enter the path to the licence file in the Upload Licence File interface, or copy and paste
the licence key into the Enter Licence Key box
4. Click Validate, then Submit.

The licensed features are now listed.

Zeneth 10.0 | Installation Guide 1.0 | April 2024 8

Access the licensed features by clicking on icons on the menu bar on the left. Click to expand
the menu bar and see text descriptions for each icon.

Uninstalling Zeneth
There are two ways to uninstall Zeneth:
l Via the Control Panel.
l By re-running the installer and selecting the Remove option.

Note: Older versions of Zeneth do not need to be uninstalled before installing a newer version. If an
existing Zeneth 8 or 9 installation is uninstalled, the saved predictions will be lost and will not be
transferred to the new version of Zeneth. For more information, refer to "Upgrading Zeneth" on
page 7.
Further notes on the uninstallation process:
l Ensure Zeneth is closed before uninstalling.
l When uninstalling, a message may appear stating a reboot is required. This is to ensure the
Zeneth taskbar icons are removed. If the taskbar icons disappear without a reboot, you may

continue without rebooting. Alternatively, the taskbar icon may be removed manually by
clicking the icon after uninstalling.
l Cancelling the uninstall process while it is running will still result in predictions being deleted.

Running a repair install

To perform a repair install of Zeneth, run the installer again. When prompted to select Modify, Repair
or Remove, select Repair. You may also use the Repair option in Control Panel.
