OPERATOR AND SAFETY MANUAL

DESCRIPTION OF THE PLATFORM

This elevator platform is of the self-propelled type, with a chassis in mechanically welded steel.
Movement is ensured by four hydraulic motors via a hydrostatic transmission. Steering is ensured
by a hydraulic jack. The diesel engine coupled to a variable flow pump supplies hydraulic power to
supply the functions of the platform. Electric power supplied by an alternator and a battery at a
total voltage of 12 volts.

In the working mode, the platform must be moved only on compacted and horizontal ground,
void of any obstacle. The wheels must be in permanent contact with the ground. The load must
be distributed in the platform, and must not exceed the nominal load set by the manufacturer,
regardless of the position of the hydraulic boom and telescope. The maximum nominal load is
indicated on the manufacturer plate of the machine.

UPON DELIVERY...
Perform an immediate general check to find anything suspect or abnormal.

Perform each of the following checks (non exhaustive list):

RECOMMENDATIONS OF USE

Do not use the platform for a use not planned by the manufacturer. It is designed to move staff,
tools, and materials NECESSARY to a work station in high places, and not to handle bulk
materials.
Never exceed the nominal capacity of the platform (230Kg).
During movements between different work positions on the work site, lower the hydraulic boom
and retract the telescope fully until the basket is as close to the ground as possible (lower
position).
Allow nobody on the ground to control or intervene on the platform when it is used, except in case
of emergency, when lowering the platform and leaving it is impossible.

5.1. GENERAL
This section includes information on maintenance and general procedures.
The operator must know the general operation of the machine, and know how to check it, and
maintain it properly in order to use it safely. In no event does this part replace the preventive
maintenance programme, it is merely a tool helping the operator in daily maintenance. To know
the frequency of maintenance operations, please refer to the table of lubrication points, and that in
the inspection guide (next pages).

5.2. CLEANLINESS
To preserve the lifetime of your machine, it is important to maintain spare parts clean at all times.
The packaging of the gaskets and filters guarantees cleanliness of the air and lubricants
contained. It is important that these conditions are observed. Whenever oil or lubricant leaks from
ducts disconnected during removal, it is important to have clean parting surfaces; this prevents
foreign matter from entering the lines. The same conditions concerning cleanliness are applicable
to mechanical parts.
Clean and inspect all parts. Check that all openings are clean. Cover the parts to protect from dust
or liquids.
Check that the parts to change are clean before installing them. Remove traces of oxidization from
parts intended to receive new components.

5.3. ELECTRIC WIRES AND CABLES

Before removing or disconnecting a wire harness, mark them to ensure they will be reconnected
properly.
Ensure the connections are always clean to prevent any false contacts.

5.4. SCREWS
Lock washers or lock nuts are used to lock the bolts.
Always use new locking parts on components with moving parts (more particularly screws and
washers of the orientation crown gear) and choose only screws class 8.8 minimum.

5.5. SEALING
If a gasket must be changed, use a component recommended by the manufacturer. Never forget
that an inappropriate gasket may cause serious damage. After each disconnection of part of the
hydraulic circuit, check the oil level.

OPERATOR AND SAFETY MANUAL

5.6. LUBRICATION POINTS

Applying the lubrication procedures indicated is important to ensure maximum lifetime and use of
the machine. The lubrication procedures and tables in this section include the position of the
lubrication points, the lubrication frequency and other information.

The maintenance intervals specified are for normal use, where normal temperatures, humidity and
atmospheric conditions are dominant. In zones with extreme climatic conditions, the maintenance
periods and lubrication specifications must be modified to conform with existing conditions.
