INTRODUCTION
THE SPONSORING TRUST

The Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Kumarhatti-Solan was established in 2010 under


the aegis of the Maharishi Markandeshwar University Trust (erstwhile reputed MM Education
Trust, Ambala) which was founded by its founder President, a distinguished public figure and
promoter of education Shri Tarsem Kumar Garg in November 1993 with the objectives of
reconstruction of society through education.

The trust moved fast and in a short span of twenty seven years, it established a number of
institutions. Beginning with the establishment of the MM Engineering College in 1995 in the
‘tapobhomi’ of Maharishi Markandeshwar in the river bed of sacred ‘Markanda’, at village
Mullana-Ambala, it developed into a vast township of high profile professional institutions of
UG/PG Courses of Medical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Nursing,
Engineering & Technology, Business Management, Computer Science, Hotel Management
& Catering Technology, GNM and an International School. In recognition of the progress
achieved, in June 2007 the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India conferred
the Deemed to be University status on ten of its select institutions in the name and style of the
Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Mullana-Ambala under Section 3 of
the UGC Act, 1956. Recently Super Specialty courses of DM in Medical Gastroenterology,
Cardiology,M.Ch. Urology, Neurosurgery have also been introduced into medical College w.e.f.
the session 2017-18. The Trust has the pride privilege of establishing the first self-financing
Engineering College, first self-financing Medical College, and the first self-financing Deemed
University in the region at Mullana in the State of Haryana. Another University created under
the provision of the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006 with the name of Maharishi
Markandeshwar University has been made functional on Delhi-Ambala-Chandigarh National
Highway No.1 in the suburb of Ambala towards Chandigarh at village Sadopur-Ambala
where to begin with prime courses in the fields of Architecture, Pharmacy, Agriculture apart
from courses in other streams including research degree programmes of Ph.D. have been
introduced. In addition, it has also established two other International Schools at Sadopur-
Ambala and at Rambha-Karnal.

M.M. UNIVERSITY, SOLAN


As a part of its expansion programme the trust also established another Maharishi
Markandeshwar University in the lap of ‘Devbhooomi’ of great Himalayas at Kumarhatti-Solan
in Himachal Pradesh in 2010 which was lagislated by the Himachal Pradesh Govt. under the
provision of the Himachal Pradesh Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act,
2006, by its Act No. 22 of 2010. Initially the University had started the courses of B.Tech;
M.Tech; MBA; BBA; MCA; M.Sc. Chemistry in 2010-11 with the addition of the other
courses. The University has also been recognized by the UGC to award degrees under
Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. The main focus of the newly established University at Solan
has been for the courses of HealthSciences with the introduction of the MBBS Course of
Medical Sciences w.e.f. 2013-14 followed by other UG and PGcourses in Medical, Nursing
andPhysiotherapystreams.

M.M. MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL, KUMARHATTI-SOLAN

After the issue of the essentiality certificate for the setting up of the Medical College under the
proposed Private University by the State Govt. on 28.8.2008, the sponsoring body with the
sanction of 150 seats of MBBS by the MCI/Govt. of India, established the Medical College in
the name of the MM Medical College & Hospital, Kumarhatti-Solan in 2013-14 as a
constituent Institute of the Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Solan which happens to
be the first Medical College in private sector in the State. The Super-Specialty MM Hospital,
Kumarhatti-Solan which had become functional with 300 beds a couple of years prior to the
starting of the Medical College, now has 720 beds. The College is well equipped with state-of–
the-art infrastructure and latest ultra-modern equipment is the first Self-financing Medical
College of the State with 150 seats which is the maximum number of seats of MBBS in any
Medical College in the State. This College is likely to prove a landmark in the growth and
development of the State in general and in rendering medical care facilities and health science
education in the State in particular. In year 2018, the College has also been sanctioned PG
courses of MD/MS in all post graduate non-clinical subjects Anatomy, Pharmacology,
Microbiology, Physiology, Pathology, Community Medicine, Bio-chemistry and Forensic
Medicine by the Medical Council of India/Govt. of India and in year 2019, M.M. Medical
College & Hospital, Solan has with the approval of Government of India & Medical Council of
India started MD/MS courses in all post graduate clinical subjects like General Medicine,
Respiratory Medicine, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, Surgery, OBG, EYE, ENT,
Psychiatry, Radiology, Skin and Orthopedics.

Admissions to MBBS and various PG courses of MD/MS (both in basic subjects as well as
clinical subjects) are regulated by the State Government through its Department of Medical
Education on the basis of Centralized Counselling of applicants after passing the relevant
Common Entrance Test/NEET examination. Admission information to MBBS and various Post
Graduate Medical Courses (MD/MS) is made available by the Himachal Government at its

appropriate time during admission session each year. Persons desirous of seeking admission
to these courses in the MM Medical College & Hospital Solan, constituent college of MM
University, Solan may do so by accessing this website and submitting appropriate admission
forms as per directions contained in the Prospectus.

MM Medical College & Hospital, Solan has started Ph.D. Courses in the fields of Medical
Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Medical Pharmacology, and
Medical Physiology from the Session 2020-21. Admission to the Ph.D.programme will be
made on the basis of merit of the all India Entrance Test to be conducted by the University
followed by interview.

The Medical College has also started the M.Sc. Courses in the fields of Medical Anatomy,
Medical Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology and Medical
Pharmacology. Admissions to these courses are made on the basis of successful completion of
the Qualifying Examination (B.Sc./MBBS/BDS etc.) on the basis of merit only.

Besides MBBS, MD/MS and M.Sc. Courses, the Medical College also offers B.Sc. Courses in
the fields of Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology
(MLT), Operation Theater Techniques (OTT), Optometry, Dialysis Technology, Medical
Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology and Diploma Courses in the fields of Operation
Theater Techniques (OTT), Radiography Techniques, Medical Laboratory Technology
(DMLT), Ophthalmic Techniques (Optometric), Renal Dialysis. Admissions to these courses
are on the basis of merit of the Qualifying Examination of 10+2 with Medical Stream.

BACHELOR OF PHYSIOTHERAPY (BPT) course with 30 sanctioned seats was started in the
Medical College w.e.f. 2018. This course is of duration of 4 years with 6 months internship
intended to impart education and training in the field of Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy for
patients challenged with physical problems of joints, muscles, balance and many other
medical situations. This course includes in depth knowledge and understanding of human
structure, anatomy, function and diseases as well as their prevention and treatment including
physiotherapy & deployment of modern physiotherapy enhancing technologies etc.

M.M. COLLEGE OF NURSING, KUMARHATTI-SOLAN

The M.M. College of Nursing, Kumarhatti-Solan has also been established as a constituent
Institute of the M.M. University with the sanctioned intake of 60 seats for B.Sc. Nursing and
40 seats for GNM from the Academic Session 2019-20. The purpose of establishing the
Nursing College is to provide an educational programme through which the graduates will be
prepared to take the responsibility in the primary, secondary, and tertiary care of people as
professional nurses. The faculty members are highly skilled educators, clinicians and scholars
who have designed the curricula.

Admissions to the Nursing Courses of B.Sc. (4-yr. Course) and GNM (3-yr. Course) is made
strictly on the basis of merit of the Entrance Test to be conducted by MM University which
shall be separately notified on our website www.mmusolan.org and through newspaper
advertisements.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

➢ Though the MD/MS & MBBS Courses are offered by the MM University but
ADMISSIONS TO MD/MS&MBBS COURSES ARE REGULATED BY THE HIMACHAL
PRADESH GOVT. THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL EDUCATION BY WAY OF
CENTRALIZED COUNSELLING ON THE BASIS OF MERIT OF COMMON ENTRANCE
TEST/NEET. Detailed information for admission, application forms etc. is published by
the State Govt. at its official website www.igmcshimla.edu.inorwww.hpuniv.ac.in or

➢ Admissions to Ph.D. Courses in the fields of Medical Anatomy, Medical
Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Medical Pharmacology and Medical

brought out for admission to the Ph.D. Programme.

➢ Admission to NURSING COURSES (B.Sc. & GNM) is done through an Entrance Test
conducted by the MM University as per schedule notified on next page. Detailed

➢ Admission to M.Sc. (MEDICAL) COURSES in the disciplines of Anatomy, Physiology,


Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pharmacology will be made directly by MM
University strictly on the basis of merit of the qualifying examination.
➢ Admissions to B.Sc. in the disciplines of Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology,
Medial Laboratory Technology (MLT), Operation Theater Techniques (OTT),
Optometry, Dialysis Technology, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology &
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) will be made on the basis of merit of the qualifying
examination of 10+2 with medical stream.
➢ Admissions to DIPLOMA Courses in the disciplines of Operation Theater Techniques
(OTT); Medical Lab. Technology (DMLT); Radiography Techniques; Ophthalmic
Techniques (Optometry) and Renal Dialysis will be made on the basis of merit of
qualifying examination 10+2 with medical stream.

ADMISSION TO NRI SEATS
1. In the Counselling of MBBS Course for this Institute, 15% seats of the total

Seats are reserved for NRI candidates as per seat matrix in keeping with the

decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

2. Admission to NRIseats will be done by Himachal Pradesh Counselling

Authority upto the Second Round and then Vacant NRI seats Counselling

will be done at the College level after transfer of vacant seats to the College.

3. In the matter of admission to NRI seats regarding eligibility of NRI candidate,


Guidelines as formulated by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the matter of CWP No.
689/2017 as produced hereunder, will be followed manadatorily:

i) If the mother or father of student is NRI and residing abroad ordinarily, then, either of the
situations so held will be considered to be proper.

ii) If real Brother or student is NRI and residing abroad

iii) He should be the nearest relation. In the definition of the nearest relation, committee has
considered following relative having blood relations.
a) Real brother and sister of father i.e. real uncle and real aunt.
b) Real brother and sister of mother i.e. real maternal uncle and maternal aunt.

In few Preclinical, Para-clinical, and Clinical Branches scholarship will also be


given in addition to monthly stipend.

ii) Bond to be executed by the students:


Every candidate shall have to execute a bond to serve the Institute as Senior Resident for
one year after completion of the course, failing which he/she will have to pay an amount
of Rs. 5 Lacs to the Institute.

Note: 1. The fees is payable annually as per judgment of Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case
of Islamic Academy of Education and others Vs State of Karnataka.

2. The tuition fee is approved by the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh. There will be 10%
increase in the tuition fee every year as per the approval of the State Govt. The fee is
payable for 5 yrs.

3. The candidate must pass Ist Professional to Final Professional in prescribed tenure
of course failing which extra fee as per prescribed rates for different categories shall
be charged for every six months.

4. University/Examination Charges will be extra.

5. Bank Guarantee equal to amount of two years fee may be required to be furnished

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING UP THE ADMISSION FORM

Except for the courses of MD/MS and MBBS, the Application Form for admission to all the other
courses, duly completed in all respects, accompanied with the following documents is to be submitted to
the Admission Office of the M.M. University, Kumarhatti-Solan by the stipulated date. Admission Forms
which are incomplete or without copies of the requisite documents or received late, are liable to be
rejected.

(a) A recent passport size photograph should be pasted at the space provided on the Admission
Form with two additional copies to be appended with the Admission Form.
(b) Attested copies of Matriculation/Secondary/Sr. Secondary School Certificate or a Certificate
of its equivalent public examination showing the candidate’s date of birth.

(c) Attested copies of having passed/appearing in qualifying examination duly attested by the
Principal of the School/College/institution last attended by the candidate.

(d) Certificate of SC/ST/OBC/PWD/IRDP/BPL for statistical information or for getting the benefits
of relaxation in age or marks in the qualifying examination or for reservation of seats
applicable on Govt. quota seats.

(e) Original Migration Certificate from the Board/University last attended (to be submitted at the
time of admission or within 15 days from the date of admission).

(f) The candidates must mention his/her own and that of his/her parent’s Phone/Mobile Number
and e-mail address at the space provided in the Admission Form. Any change in the Contact No.
/e-mail address must be intimated to the admission office.

(g) Certificate of HimachaliBonafideresident for claiming seat under reserved categories for
Himachali’s.

(h) A photocopy of Aadhaar Card must be attached with the documents.

DOCUMENTS TO BE BROUGHT AT THE TIME OF COUNSELLING

After submission of AdmissionForm, the candidates are required to report for counselling and
admission on the date and time indicated againsteach provided in the Prospectus and bring with
them the following Originalcertificates for admission to the course concerned:

(i) Original Matric Certificate (as proof of date of birth).

(ii) Original MarksSheet/Certificate of qualifying examination on the basis of which the


candidate claims for admission.
(iii) Character Certificate reporting on the inter personal/social behavioral pattern of the
candidate issued by the School/College/Institution last attended by the candidate.
(iv) Migration Certificate (to be submitted at the time of counseling or within 15 days from
the date of admission).

OTHER IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADMISSION

1. All admissions are made provisional subject to their final registration with the M.M.
University.

2. A candidate, who does not report for the counselling in person on the date of
counselling as already notified, shall forfeit claim of his/her seat.

3. The fee is to be deposited at the time of counselling.


4. There will be no rounding of percentage of marks for determining the eligibility for
admission to the course.

5. In case two or more candidates in merit list have equal percentage of marks, the
marks obtained in the next lower examination will be taken into consideration for
determining the merit. In case there is still a tie, the candidate senior in age will be
given preference.

6. The candidate possessing the qualification from any Foreign University/Board,


should submit equivalence certificate of their qualifying examination from
Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiuweb.org).

7. If a student fails to attend his/her classes continuously for 7 days from the date of
commencement of the classes or from the date of admission, in case admission has
been made after the commencement of the classes, his/her admission shall be
cancelled without any further notice.

8. The candidates who have passed their examination from any fake university are not
eligible. In case it is revealed at any subsequent stage that any candidate has sought
admission to any course of the University/Institution on the basis of examination
passed by him/her from any fakeUniversity, his/her admission shall be
cancelledwithout any notice. The list of fakeUniversities is available on the website
of UGC or from the AcademicSection of the university.

9. The Admission Form received late will not be considered. The University/Institute
will in no way be responsible for delay or loss of admission form or correspondence
pertaining thereto, in postal transit orthrough courier service.

10. The students are not allowed with four wheelers in the campus.

REGULATIONS ON CURBING THE MENANCE OF RAGGING

• RAGGING is totally PROHIBITED in the University and its institutions, and anyone found
guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, whether actively or passively, or being a part of a
conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished in accordance with the Regulations
framed and notified by the UGC and other Regulating Councils like MCI/DCI/AICTE, etc.
as well as under the Provisions of any penal law for the time being in force.

• Regulations for Elimination of Ragging shall be applicable not only to the University and its
Institutions or any part thereof, including, but not limited to, the Departments, constituent
units, Colleges, Centre of Studies and all its premises, within the campus or outside, and in
all means of transportation students, whether located within the campus or outside, and in
all means of transportation of students, weather public or private, accessed by students for
the pursuit of their studies in such institutions.

• RAGGING constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:

(a) Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an
act which has the effect of teasing or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other
student;

(b) Including in rowdy or indisciplinedactivities by any student or students which causes or


is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or
apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.;

(c) Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do
and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or torment or
embarrassment so as to adversely effect of the physique or psyche of such fresher or any
other student;

(d) Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic
activity of any other student or fresher;

(e) Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks
assigned to an individual or a group of students;

(f) Any act of financial extortion or forcefully expenditure burden put on a fresher or any
other student by students;

(g) Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse homosexual assaults
stripping forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other
danger to health of person;

(h) Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post public insults which would also include
deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively
participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student;

(i) Any act that affects the mental health and self- confidence of a fresher or any other
student.

With or without any tent to derived a statistic pleasure or showing of power, authority or superiority
by a student over any fresher or any other student.

• Students are advised to collect a copy each Regulations of the UGC and respective Regulating
councils on curbing the Menace of Ragging from the office of the respective Institution of the
University at the time of admission.

• Every candidate for admission will have to submit and Affidavit, duly attested by the
appropriate authority, as per Annexure-I appended as a part of the admission form at the end
of this prospectus to the effect that he/she has not been expelled and/ or debarred by any
Institutions and further ever that he/she would not indulge actively or passively, in the act of
abet the act of ragging and if found guilty of ragging and/ or abetting ragging, is liable to be
procedure against under these Regulations or under any panel law or any other law for the
time being enforced and such action would include but is not limited to debarment or
expulsion of such student.

• Parent/Guardian of the candidates for any admission to any course in any of the Institutes of
the University shall submit another Affidavit on similar lines in respect of their wards, duly
attested by the appropriate authority, as at Annexure-II of the admission form appended at
the end of this prospectus.

• Students seeking admission to any of the hostels forming part of the University or its
institutions, for seeking to reside in any temporary premises not forming part of the
University/institutions, including a private commercially managed lodge or hostel, shall have
to submit additional affidavit, counter signed by his/her parents/guardians/ in prescribed
format as a Annexure-I along with their application with their admission.

• Every student at the time of his/her registration shall inform the institutions about his/her
place of residence while pursuing the course of study, and in case the student has not
decided his/her place of residence or intends to change the same, the details of his place of
residents shall be provided immediately on deciding the same; and specifically in regard to a
private commercially managed lodge or hostel where he/she has taken a residence.

• The student concerned or any other person knowing about any act of ragging having been
committed to any of the students on the institutional premises or outside shall immediately
bring the matter to the notice of the authorities of the University or the concerned institutes
personally or on phone given on next page without causing any delay to enable the concerned
authorities to take appropriate expeditious action in the matter.

• While the M.M. University and its institutions assure to fully adhere to all the relevant
Regulations on curbing the Menace of Ragging and to take all necessary precautions to avoid
any case of Ragging with any student of University and its institutions, the parents specially
of fresher’s are also requested to remain in touch with their wards and promptly bring any
instance of ragging to the notice of the Head of the respective institution or any other
functionary of the University or the concerned institutes to enable the concerned authorities to
take immediate appropriate action in the matter.
