Defect Breaking Duplex Drive Gear On Fuser
Cause Seized T21 Exit Clutch
Area affected Drive PL 3.1 # 6 & Fuser PL 7.1 # 1
Procedure Unseize / Replace T21 Clutch

Explanation
For an unknown reason(possible corrosion) the T21 clutch
binds solidly with the result that in the duplex mode,
it results in the duplex drive gear,
on the fuser to break the shaft on which it drives.

T21 clutch removal


1. Remove top front cover (Pl19.1A#1) and Exit cover( #11).
2. Remove Exit drive Assy (Pl 3.1#11).

Repair
1. Remove clutch T21 and insert long nose plier end into clutch as shown below.
2. Hold firm the outer gear and
rotate long nose in both
directions to dislodge.

Resolve
The costly resolution is to replace the Fuser assembly and the T21 clutch (not spared)
Alternatively: follow above procedure.
PS: A repair is in progress for the gear shaft on the fuser.
